Barry Hearn is the John Milton (Al Pacino's character in the Devil's Advocate) of the Pool world..

All joking aside, it is hard to think of anyone that has done more for the top echelons of the game to be fair..

Its nothing mysterious. His name came up with Bonus Ball because some people in BB brought it up for whatever reason. That has nothing to do with the HOF nomination and selection.
I am a USBMA member and voted in the selections. Not a big surprise to see Mr. Hearn selected on the 20th Anniversary of the Mosconi Cup that is being held in Vegas. It is well deserved in my opinion.
Justin, not saying he is not worthy or anything. But, what has Barry done for American pool outside of the Mosconi Cup? I honestly don't know, and was surprised to see this. I know he has done tons for European pool, snooker, darts, ect. But what makes him worthy of the American hall??
Barry Hearn has put USA players in front of more millions of viewers over the past 20yrs that ANYONE! actually combine everyone together and he has still IMO put more focus on USA players worldwide than anyone EVER!
More players want to attend the Mosconi Cup than any other event. More fans get excited about the mosconi Cup than any other event. For 20 years he has been doing this. I am not even mentioning the other events he has put on here in the USA.
The man is a genius and maybe the greatest sports promoter in the world. We should be thankful that he has stuck with this for so long considering all the BS.
I think I have justified his HOF award enough with only what I have said but there is plenty more I think if I tried hard enough to research it.
I congratulate Mr Hearn, BAZZA,The main man on campus for his recognition and believe he is more than deserving and what other time to do this but on the 20th anniversary of the Mosconi Cup right here in the USA.
AGAIN all my own opinion.
Mark, you seem to be a little defensive. Let me re-iterate: I have no idea what he has done, so I was just asking what he has done. Not judging his "worthiness" in the least. What other tournaments in the USA has he had a hand in??

I recall at every US Open I've attended (8 weeks away) there are inductions. Is that where this induction will occur?

NO NO NO! Not defensive at all. I was answering your question. Maybe I was a little blunt but that was not intended. I feel passionate about this maybe because Barry Hearn is a hero of mine from way back. Sorry if I came across wrong but hope I answered your question a little at least.
Matt they will be held the 2nd of December I believe at the Mirage in Vegas right before the MC. Yes it has been at the Marriot across from the Convention Center at the US Open in the past few years.

It will be at the Mirage the first day of the Mosconi Cup (Monday, Dec. 2). The matches will be from 11AM-4PM (roughly) leaving the evening free for the ceremony.
I think setting up the Mosconi Cup is enough for a HOF induction.
