I'm only there once a week usually don't plAy much I called gene twice this week to get Bartram spot but he had other plans.
He scared of one pocket says he doesn't play it. I told him if he is travelin the road he needs to learn how to play it.

What I think is his tournament play is 95% local bar tournaments with $5 to $25 entry fee and the winner gets $60-$150 dollars. The other 5% he plays in that are big enough to get reported...he didn't cash. If I'm wrong he can correct me and give a list of a few regional tournaments he's cashed in over the last 12 years. Speaking of girl champions, one of Gene's students on my league team took a mini lesson from Gene earlier this year.
She finished 2nd in the ISPA women's singles. She finished 3rd in the iowa games. She was top female player in the local league system. Her game jumped a notch, for sure.
fyi,
Jeff Livingston
I'm going to play wed or thur.
I really don't play the game much. Dick worked with me for about 2 hours at brickyard showing me all the rules.
From what I see if you make the balls and don't let the other guy make balls you win. Pretty much like all the other games.
The worst that can happen is i lose some money.
The best thing is i might win and might gain a little interest in the game.
I doubt though that I'm going to be playing a c player. I don't know where that came from?
Oh, and I'm playing with my own money. No backer.
This is how I prefer it unless someone wants to bet $5k to 10k amounts. Then I make a call.
And i do have some pretty good backers and they are ones from the old days.

So let me get this straight....You had a guy named Dick show you all the rules because you did not already know them? Then.... You can get people to back you for 5k to 10k? All I can say is WOW!! :bash:
At Brickyard billiards.
Hank called me today and said Justin and Skylor will get into town on Thursday to get ready for Friday.
This is going to be a great match and too bad it couldn't be streamed. I wish I had the setup to do this but I don't otherwise it would be streamed.
I don't know who i like in this little matchup here.
I know Justin is and has been playing at a really high level since he was about 17 when i met him in St Louis. This was back when i was first trying to play a little back in 2008.
I liked Justin back then and was hoping he could keep his life on line dealing with this pool world of ours.
These 2 young guns can have a little fun traveling and playing but it only takes a few bad matchups or a couple of days of not playing up to speed and the trip is over.
It's smart by having a backer in these matchups. You have someone to put up the money with the hopes of getting half. And these kids don't have to worry about going busted.
Justin plays good enough where someone is going to have to get an awful lot of weight to get his cash and Skylor is not far behind but needs allot of seasoning.
He will get there in a real hurry but the only time to practice getting seasoned is when your in the frying pan and someone is trying to cook you.
I'm sticking around for this matchup and going to bet a little $500 to $1000 sweat bet to watch.
I might even get a game myself.
My game in Evensville didn't work out today. Mark says the air conditioner is out at the pool hall. I told him I'd play tomorrow but he didn't seem too excited about that.
Told me he'd see me at the US Open. He's going there with a friend.
So much with my $1000 earn as I learn one pocket match. I don't know if I could have won but I was going to take a swing at it. i liked my chances for sure.
Other than that it's business as usual. I'm down to 185lbs and starting to feel my energy up all day long. I was really tired after i was done playing but I held up good during the 5 hour and actually felt real good at the end.
Geno I am a bit confused are you guys going to Raleigh or Greensboro I thought the US Open qualification was in Greensboro would love to drop by and see you guys if possible good luck
