CSI US Opens, Tunica and the Ultimate 10Ball...

I just want to make sure no one even thinks its a possibility Shane is who NYC Cue Dude is talking about. 100% was not him.

Its bullshit to make a statement like that then leave the possibility open that four totally innocent people could have their names associated with it. If you are going to say something that serious in public have the balls to name names and not slander others by association (Saying it was someone on the Cup team then leaving it open as to who).

People will say I am overreacting but I will bet money at some pool room somewhere some winner is telling his buddy "Told you that Shane guy is a dick. I read on AZ he beat up his old lady."

If you are going to say some shit at least make sure people who have no connection at all to the situation can not be dragged into it.
I agree that it is poor form to state it the way he did. Either mention who did this or don't mention it at all or be a bit more vague about it rather than narrowing it down to 5 and bringing suspicion on all of them

Personally, I'm surprised they haven't pulled the thread by now.

hi

thats why im only pro dumb enough to get on here because the threads that bash them get the most action. the mods probably cant c everything all the time but they know its good for viewership. thats why no other pros bother with this hatefest called azb. not everybody is haters but if i had a dollar for every jealous wannabe hurling insults to people especially top players from behind a screename id b rich. its sad because i think this would b a cool forum if every pro told stories and gave free advice and everybody used their face and name. then this forum would b truly productive. no hiding behind avatar insulting people.

I for one love when you , Chris B, Mike D, come on here. Gives us rail bird wanna bes whatever a chance to converse with some champs. So please ignore the idiots and trolls and stay with us. Mike D did a question and answer thread I think everyone loved. Just an idea for you in the future. For what it is worth if all the pros took some time on FB, AZ, etc and interacted with us we may come out more. IBA and travel to several tournys a year just to gamble and meet people. So these forums are productive and sometimes entertaining.

If you found it so repulsive with blood stains

Mark, I have a lot of respect for what you have done, are doing and will do in the future. The same can be said for the guys at TAR, btw.

I love pool. I've been involved for 30 years. I've done my fair share in elevating its status. I've spent the last 4 months (and counting) working on a new project that will add to the landscape of American pool.

I understand the things you wrote about professional pool players. And I appreciate the distinction you made between foreign players, as that has been my experience as well. I choose to surround myself with like minded, honest, clean and principled people. I took a chance one time on an American player (not the only time, btw), while putting him up in my house. He repaid my generosity by literally beating the shit out of his girlfriend in front of me, and then proceeded to threaten my life. The blood stains are still in the marble hallway. I won't name him, but he's a prominent player, even on this years Mosconi cup team. Unfortunately, the American pool player is steeped in the seedy, even slimy culture of hustling (an attempt to cheat someone out of money) and drugs/alcohol. The culture has been propagated in every piece of US media, in both film and print, for decades. These players take pride in emulating this stereotype. I find it repulsive.

It was heartening to read that you haven't given up on pool, though. It's a beautiful, artistic game. We should create places to play it that are welcoming to women and children if American pool has any chance at survival.

My hats off to you, Mark. I wish nothing but the best for you and your ventures, now and in the future.

Did you contact the police about the man abusing his girlfriend or hide under the bed!!!

You know, I hadn't considered this. And, you're right. But still, I just figured everyone would know it was Dennis. It isn't the only time they got into it in a serious way. In fact, I believe there was a similar situation that occured in a lobby of a Florida hotel before the start of a tournament. I don't remember who swung the but of the cue stick or who's head it smashed in, but the rest resulted in Dennis being thrown out of the event before it started. They were both poison for each other, as it turns out. They should both thank God that they are no longer dating. All that could have ended so tragically.

Why you would publish this on the open forum a month or two before the Mosconi Cup is curious. Did you want to ruin Team USA's reputation before the beginning of the event so that Team Europe would look better in the eyes of this forum? I just don't get it, the "why" of it all or your motive. :frown:

I knew it was Dennis when you wrote about it originally, but Danielle does not have clean hands in this. I agree they were toxic to each other. Danielle tried to engage in a physical altercation with me in Valley Forge and Turning Stone. I was able to evade her, as I'm not into fisticuffs. She went after me, poundnig on our hotel door, telling me to come out into the hallway so she could fight me. It was quite upsetting for me as a woman in her fifties dealing with a 6-foot-plus Amazon threatening me with violence. :(

Dennis does have a past, but I would venture to guess many of us have done things in our past that we wish we had not. I am not defending a man hitting a woman, but I am putting it out there, since you did, that this woman seemed to have a desire to engage in physical altercations at the drop of a hat.

I do know that Dennis had quite an unusual upbringing for a young boy, and his peers at that time put this young boy in some situations that may have contributed to Dennis' choices in life. I am not making excuses for him, but I am saying that I understand this cradle-to-prison pipeline that is prevalent in today's society. It's a shame.

I actually like Dennis and consider him a friend.

This has got to be one of the most disingenuous, self righteous, hypocritical, unnecessarily mean spirited venomous bile that I have ever seen spewed out on these forums.

NYC cue dude states that “I love pool. I've been involved for 30 years. I've done my fair share in elevating its status”

then he goes on to cast aspersions on the entire Mosconi Cup team.

He follows this up by painting all American players with the broad brush of “the American pool player is steeped in the seedy, even slimy culture of hustling (an attempt to cheat someone out of money) and drugs/alcohol.” Providing all with his definition of hustling in case we didn’t know how contemptible he thought it is.

When NYC cue dude writes “I choose to surround myself with like minded, honest, clean and principled people” he does a disservice to those that really are honest, clean and principled. A description that I have found applies to many in the Pool industry.

NYC cue dude, I recognize the attempt to ingratiate yourself with those that have real principles and integrity; you missed the mark. Your post was neither principled nor honest. If you truly want to elevate the status of pool take up another sport.

Well done for clearing up the situation. If I was harsh I apologize.

As to people saying how right or wrong it is to tell what you saw....if you are telling the truth who gives a shit what others think. You are the one who will have to deal with the fallout from making a public statement so if you are willing to do that to make your point then I respect that.

That we had major professional events last year at the same venue that had many thousands of amateur pool players was amazing.

That those thousands of pool players walked many times down a long hall with many giant posters of champion pool players--who they are and where they're from--was awesome.

I don't blame Mark for for choosing to stop doing this, but I have to say it's the saddest thing I've heard in a long time about the pool world.

Recently, there has been a lot this kind of news reported on our beloved sport. This is very disturbing.

I think Justin and Shane must be BFF's and when they are together Shane rides on Justin's shoulders... haha
