When we bagan the trip we had about $2600 which is alot less than we have right now. But while we were in Indiana we pumped up really fast with lessons in Muncie, a final paycheck that I drove to Ohio to pick up, a rear end collision that we collected insurance money from, and several winners Gene and I booked prior to your match with Bergman. By the time you had to play Bergman we had approx $7000. At the end of the U.S. Open we were back down to around $2600 again. Our bankroll is slightly above half of what it was right before you played Bergman.
I enjoy reading about your trip Rhea, and I wish you and Gene a boatload of luck, but IMO, you're making a lot of detailed and private information way too public. Think it's wise?

I agree with Jimmy on this. We don't need to know about your bankroll. The only time we should know how much you have is when the two of you end up going home because your are busted. I hope this doesn't happen though and I hope you have millions of great rolls out there.

I suppose so, We went on the road Sept 6th exactly 2 weeks prior to my final paycheck but since I went to pick it up 2 weeks later on Sept 20th we are currently even with what we had as of Sept 20th.
I was all in, everything I had. but Gene is the major breadwinner, his lessons have kept us going through everything. Action and tournaments are not a guarantee with either one of us but he is the favorite in both over me. I am just his student, and hes been doing this far longer than I have even been playing pool. I am trying very hard to learn from him. And my game is improving just not as fast as I would like you see I would like to just wake up and be a pro tomorrow but that is unrealistic. I am an action freak I love being in action but I need to be realistic on what I can or cannot do and so does Gene.
Right now Gene is in control of everything and I like it like that, the only thing I do right now is suggest places we go based on tournament payouts in that area vs how far the drive is and when it is in relation to what we have planned. If we just go everywhere aimlessly and give lessons I dont even think that would be enough to sustain us. Decent tournament payouts, plus occasional action, plus well populated areas with high potential for lessons is a must in deciding where we end up.
I don't know if Rhea is being treated like a child or not but your saying so suggests that she is or that you think she is and if she gets to thinking like this, this relationship will soon come to an end. Bad advice for Rhea even if it were true.
Sometimes, you need to know when to be quiet, to sit and to listen to those who are more learned.
Besides that, experience is far more valuable than money. :scratchhead:

It's the relationship between a journeyman and an apprentice. Gene is showing her what he has learned to do over the years to survive. They have chosen this lifestyle and relationship. Gene is simply making decisions he needs to make to continue and they are both all-in as far as risk.
A couple of things Rhea has said tells me she wants to make it work. This girl doesn't seem to have much give up in her. I've never been on the road, but I can see from their journals that success is measured by survival, one day at a time.

I don't know how all you people equate submissiveness with being a champion. Champions don't have to get permission to play the ghost.
Champions make decisions and have confidence.

Many "champions" do get pretty independent when they reach their crest, often arrogant, and that's usually the beginning of the end. But very few, if any, would ever get to the champion stage without being what you are calling totally "submissive" to their coaches.
Have known a few people who trained at Bollettieri Tennis Program, ain't easy. They tell you what, how, when; to eat, exercise, study, and sleep. Same with boxers, remember "Million Dollar Baby"?, and the cadets at West Point. Even professional coaches raking percentages from what their pros earn will cease coaching an athlete if they do not adhere to their training routine, it's not submissiveness, it's called discipline, dedication, and respect, and without those qualities success is very elusive.
