The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

I'm curious, that's all. You stated that you and Gene were likely going you separate ways. I can assume now that hasn't transpired yet. Is that decision still in effect?

Thx for the response.

That depends on Gene, he doesn't play pool anymore he quit playing as of Friday and has no current desire to begin playing any time soon. He still plans to teach.

But he and I are currently residing in his mother's house.

I am pretty sure he'd like nothing more than to find someone else to take me on the road, that's one less expense for him!

Maybe you should get some help with your gambling problem

Beat me to it.

Rhea, if you had a new car and never checked the oil, therefore blowing up the engine, how do you think that getting an old car will get you criss crossing the USA.

I bet that you won't make it to the first pool tourney that you posted. You'll walk into the first available casino and blow your wad.

Yep, do it for Gene. From what I have read of your last few posts, Job, car, heavy gambling, I truly believe that you are going to end up, (if you're not already) a huge liability and accident waiting to happen.

Though there would have been a time in my life that this might have been true, back when I gambled at everything you could gamble at regardless of the dollar amount. 2 months paycheck on 1 game, flip of the dice, texas holdem, punching bag high score, you name it.

I have graduated to only playing pool for money and betting on nothing else. I don't even play lotto ever since they raised powerball to $2 a ticket from $1.

I was at a casino alone on Friday night after Gene went back to the motel I was still in the losers bracket. When it was done, I thought about sticking a $20 bill in a slot machine just to see what would happen but when I thought about it thats $20 I could bet on pool instead or use for an entry fee.

This would be a positive development if you were actually good at pool and booking winners. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Ahh. I think I see what is going on here

do yáll not listen to a thing i say? it's not about "pool"....

PL <==== headed downstairs to break into Mosconi's ballroom & shoot (again)

OMG this is the best day ever. I am now your buddy, your fellow, your pal and your friend. I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!! Thanks John my new buddy, pal, friend, fellow and whatever else you can come up with.

Why don't you lot use the term "mate"? It's great, can be used for anyone - friend or foe alike - and you never have to learn anyone's name.

Rhea get off here and figure out what you want to do.

Everyone here will have am opinion. No one can live your life but every one can comment in it.

My advice is to stick with gene and really learn to play if truly aspire to becoming pro speed.
If you just need him to throttle your need to be in action then it can only end badly at some point.

There is a lot of wisdom in this thread if you are ready to listen.

Well, you did finally give her good advise. This we can agree on. If she wants to become a pro, running around the country ain't gonna do it. However, learning from Gene could do it, stay in one place, tap his brain, see the patterns, and become an 8b goddess, and then move to the areas where they play a lot of womans' tourneys, like the east coast :)

All my advice is good. She should do what she wants.

I see nothing wrong with being a nomad b player. If you can make that work then great.

I let people write their own stories and I don't much care to follow the herd.

You say one thing and then say another... She should do what she wants, but then you say she should stay with Gene... can even you see how ridiculous this is.....

You give advise, and you act like you didn't.. we give advice, and you think the world is coming unglued....

There's a certain surreal quality to the advice that JB likes to give people. Consider the following example: "Maybe she goes on the road by herself goes dead broke and takes a job waiting tables meets a millionaire and ends up with a permanent sponsor for her pool fix. No one here can predict the future."

Here's some more gum-flapping advice from JB: "Let me clue you in to something, hundreds of thousands of people in the USA are transient. They move around with only what they can carry and whatever skills they have. Somehow they manage to make it. Some of them do very well and some of them are perpetually on the edge of homelessness. For each and every one of them though they are living their own lives."

If ever we need some examples of JB's bumbling ineptitude for giving advice, those examples make the case very nicely. :D

She should do what she wants to do. My advice about getting better was because she has a coach. That's all about playing.

Also I don't care about yours or others advice. Most of what I saw was along the lines of give it up, you suck, will never succeed.... Etc...that sort of advice isn't very useful as far as I see it. Let's just chalk it up to different views on life. I have mine you have yours and life goes on despite us not having the same outlook.

I do not even remotely believe it will be possible for a "B" player at best (from what I have read) to even consider traveling for this game. Unless being a "B" as a female allows you to get games consistently. You can line up 52 tourneys for next year but there is zero chance you come out ahead after that time from tourneys alone and I am not talking about expenses...just pool.....

Also I don't care about yours or others advice. .

Oh, but you do care. Go back and read your posts, you do care about the advice that is being given. It gives you another day to be the AZB persecution guy for the day, everyone is out to get you, the mods don't like me, I know everything, thus everyone else should refrain from having an opinion on anything to do with pool... wait for it.... on an internet pool forum :)

It's all good. She knows she is wrong, Gene spent as much time with her as anyone, and he knows she's is wrong, and it appears everyone else here knows she is wrong... but you keep fighting the good fight :)

PS: I'm gonna go make a cue case now... I don't make cases, but man, how hard could it be if I spend half my day on AZB :) j/k
