Top 5 Most Significant Cues..

I think the pretty much unplayed (like new condition) Balabushka that used to be in Dr Wu's collection (which is one of the facier Bushka's), definitely deserves to be at the top.

i am under the impression that jack potter bought and received the last balabushka

we both knew that from day one,i think mrs b sought to buy it back from jack

that cue is really nice and now is to be seen in the glenn family collection along with a piloted ivory joint bushka that is the only one i ever saw

both of these deserve to be in an outstanding cue show

Mosconi's Rambow with which he ran 526.
Babe Cranfield's Rambow with which he ran 768.
Mosconi's fancy Balabushka.
Willie Hoppe's cue in many pictures in his book.
Eddie Taylor's Paradise with which he probably made more banks than anyone.

There will always be fancier. These are historic.

Very difficult question Alton. Are you speaking of design only, or construction as well?

Just off the top of my head I would have to say:

1. Ernie's Sliver & Ivory cue built in 1966
2. The Golden Balabushka
3. Szamboti Snap cue
4. An early Kersenbrock (can't think of a specific example)
5. Thomas Wayne Celtic Prince

This scares the hell out of me.

But this would be my EXACT list and I wouldnt change one thing.

Something is wrong.

Balabushka's fanciest cue
Szamboti's fanciest cue
The above pictured Gina Cue.
David Kersenbrock's Lady Cue
Thomas Wayne's Celtic Prince
Meucci's original Crown Jewel Cue.

Oh well that is 6 and I can't bring it down any lower than those 6.

I would like to see a picture of the "Lady Cue" I guess I am not familiar with it.

Thanks,

Ken

Mine....this was a hard list for me to come up with and to limit to just 5.

1. Ernie's Sliver & Ivory cue built in 1966
2. TCOM "Balabushka" Joss
3. Barry's "Tribute to Dad" cue
4. Gus's last unfinished 8-point
5. Rempe's original "Crown Jewels" Meucci

This is a great thread and it's as shame it hasn't garnered more responses and input. I thought we were a bunch of cue stick junkies !! :)

1. Silver Gina
2. Golden Bushka
3. "Snap" Szamboti

Those are my top 3, hard to come up with 5 because so many cues come to mind such as:

-Barry tribute to my Dad
-Gus's last work
-Mosconi's Balabushka, Mosconi's "526" Rambow
-Ivory handle Martin
-Ivory handle fancy SW
-Mizerak's Balabushka, lost to Liscotti that supposedly won 2 world titles
-Rempe's Crown Jewel

The top would be Rambo. Father of the big money Cue.

Followed by the fancy Balabushkas. Then Dean's commissioned works by various builders. George and Gus and David built Cues for Dean by the way.
Fact is Dean is responsible for more fine Cues than anyone on the planet probably followed in a real close second by Lucky.
Thanks Deano Campbell and Lucky.

Nick :)

Rick, I've heard of David's early "Silver Lady" cue but haven't ever seen it. Anyone have pics of it? He's made several world class works of art imo. I think my favorite that I've seen is the ivory pronged "Pen & Paper" cue.

Here is a quick pic of the Golden Balabushka from pg 330 of the Billiard Encyclopedia 2nd edition.

Not the best quality, but caption reads, " George's most unique and elaborate cue. A year in the making, the solid rosewood butt was inlaid with 14 diamond shaped gold pieces and a lizard skin wrap."

Does anyone know who owns this Golden Balabushka?

TW's Celtic Cue?
Lambros' Dragon Cue?

Agree

I agree with all cues listed on previous post, but I would have to add the Black Boar owned by Tikkler a lot of inlays done in a very artistic fashion and a superb player. My second choice would be plain but very unique SW pictured here on the Gallery by Greg Antonakis a 12 point SW.
