If it looks like a troll, waddles like a troll, and quacks like a troll, it's a troll.
That would be a duck bob. This is a troll.

Your basic problem may be that you just have an ego so big that you need a wheelbarrow to carry it around with you but, in any case, best of luck coping with your Bob Dixon condition.
Earl has the flamboyance and charisma to draw people to pool. He's a total character, but that draws attention to the sport and gets people playing...... Earl may be in a funk, but I'll take him over any of the Europeans <--Earl has been in a 'funk for 30 yrs. !.. I am 100% pro-American, but I would gladly trade him for ANY European player to represent the U.S...He is the epitome of the 'Ugly American' !
Bingo.
All this BS talk about how Earl is "mentally ill" (whatever that is) and can't help himself is laughable. If Earl's problems center around his meds and his DSM-V diagnosis, then how is it that he can turn it on and off like a switch when he wants to?
Who are the real psychiatrists on this forum anyway? Who knows beyond all doubt that he is actually bi-polar in the first place? That is a tough diagnosis even for a trained medical practitioner, never mind some keyboard shrink who think's every mood swing demands anti-psychotic drugs.
FWIW I'm married to a clinical psychologist with 15 years experience, including a stint at the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany, NY. She see nothing remotely like Bi-polar I, Bi-polar II, or the related diagnosis Cyclothymia that would be responsible for Earl's antics. Bi-polar swings are huge, long lasting (weeks at a time), and a patient cannot just pull their shit together and behave when it suits their needs.
Earl likely suffers from any of several personality disorders, lumped in together in the older DSM-IV as "Axis II" disorders. Most Axis II disorders are controlled poorly or not at all with medications, so there goes the old "Earl's off his meds and can't help it" excuse. Cognitive therapy is the best course of action with personality disorders, but the success rate is rather low. It has to start with the patient wanting to change. Typical for these disorders, Earl wants the world to change (even the game itself) to meet his needs, instead of adapting to the ever changing environment that is life.

Being married to and being a clinical psychologist are not the same... Unless you wife wants to jump on here I would just as well have you say I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Or oooh look I googled....

Really I'm the idiot because I expect our professional players to act like professionals? Showing class and respect is not too much to ask of someone who is getting paid to play win or lose. Shane and Johnny are the only 2 that showed pure class the entire event for the American team. It is hard to debate with someone who thinks ignorance is cool so no need for me to respond to you again.
I agree with you.
However, if Tiger acted the way Earl just did, do you think Nike would stick around? Do you think the endorsements and clothing lines would be there if "the best players" in the game behaved the way Earl just did? I sure don't think so.
Idiot? Just because he has a differing opinion?

Regardless of his behavior, I've never seen Earl play so timid. He was not his usual Earl self on the table.
I am not saying Earl is mentally ill but the notion that he can temporarilly control himself when threatened is proof that he can behave that way always is absurd. It is as absurd as if I were to look at the fact that I can hold my breath as proof that I don't have to breath.
Of course it's proof. There's more proof, too. Watch his eyes just as he's about to go off. There's a moment of absolute clarity there. His intent is clearly to shark his opponent. He's been doing it for decades. Another player who was a master at it was Jimmy Mataya. These guys missed their calling. They would have been great actors. Earl eventually started to believe his own line of crap. Now he's deluded.
I think Earl is finished as a Mosconi cup player...
Good God, this thread is filled with hatred.
Reality bites...
