Got My Used Table

Friend of mine knew of someone that wanted to get a 7' Valley Cougar out of his garage. I think it's a 1987. It's sturdy and the slate is good. The guy that owned it almost had the big one when I took out my blade and cut the cloth off to see the slate. My friend and his buddy delivered it for me and set it up. I gave them $300 and they tried to give it back. I ordered a new set on Ridgeback rails from Kerry and will have them by Monday I'm sure. I have to call my guy to re-cloth it tomorrow. I still have the set of Ridgebacks that makes all 6 pockets 4", but I think I'll start with the 4 1/2". Can't wait to run some balls. Johnnyt

Good for you!

I had a neighbor one time that was moving and had to get a slate 8 foot table out of his house and offered it to me for free it I would just get it out NOW! LOL

I already had a table and my wife "encouraged" me to say no....

Should have got the table and left the wife.....

Thanks all. I already took the rails and there is no cloth on it yet so I've been out there air-stroking. Johnnyt

What happened to your old table? I thought you had a table. Congrats on the table!

I got pissed off cause I couldn't play for health reasons and took a sledge hammer to it a few months ago. I thought I got rid of that temper. :o. Johnnyt

Congratulations JohnnyT. Having access to a table at home is priceless.

There is nothing like the feeling of when a certain shot, or scenario runs through your head as your relaxing, and all you have to do is jump on the table and work it out. Then, there are those times when you just want to hit a few racks, or on the flip side have a 6-10 hour marathon. The bottom line is, as long as your awake your poolroom is open baby!

Having a table at home also gives you other opportunities otherwise not practical, such as making use of a video camera for self evaluation purposes. It's amazing what you'll see after reviewing your own video, and it also helps to have others who you trust review them as well. Sometimes others who are qualified will see things that even you yourself failed to notice.

Glad to hear you'll be up and banging some balls around soon, keep us posted and if at all possible show off some pictures when it's all setup..

Dopc. I'd tell you to have fun and enjoy it, but I already know you will.....

JohnnyT.

After I posted above, I saw this reply. I wasn't aware you had a table so recently. I'm somewhat new around here and all I recall hearing you mention was you hadn't been playing and I just assumed it had been quite some time ago you hung up the cues.

Regardless, glad to hear you'll be back at it soon......

Get a rule book, Johnny.
...it's been a while......some rules may have changed.
:)

Make sure the corner casting bolts are tight, replace them if missing. The Valley's with the tin wrap around beauty corners are bad for having loose or missing casting bolts, also make sure they line up with the top rails on the inside edges flush before you tighten them up.

Yes I did. My old table had a missing bolt and all 7 others were lose.
You were the one that told me to check them on that one 5 or so years age...thank you. Everything is tight on this one. Looks like $hit, but I think it will be fine for me. Johnnyt

Johnny, didn't you make a post, a few months back saying that you gave up Pool, smashed your old table and used the broken pieces of slate in your yard?

*Edit- Nvrmind...just read your post #9. Rock on, dude. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4488000&postcount=9
