Rhea the new Chapter, without Gene

Her dream is to play in these tournys............

I don't understand her logic. She won the most money on the entire trip in Indianapolis and the people she beat still want to play. If she is choosing a lifestyle of living on the road and making money at pool then she has already made a bad decision. She was just a few hours north of Indy and chose to go several hours west to a tournament. She beat one fella out of 900 and he is asking everyday when y'all are coming back. This makes zero sense. Did you mention it to her Gene about she won the most money and beat the most people in Indy? Damn forgot she even could get staked in Indianpolis...lol.

She should get to where she knows she is gonna get played and where she knows she can make a little money. Once she has exhausted all options and possibilities in that spot then go look for greener pastures.

I hate to speak for Rhea but she really wants to compete in these tournys around the country.

The girl that won it was behind 4-3 to Rhea.

I kept telling her that these tournys are just a drain on the bankroll unless you feel real confident that you can snap it off.

Indy will keep for sure. There is action everywhere if you look. Once your in a place for awhile it gets kind of stale especially for a player that isn't on the top of the food chain.

The ideal move would to be get the game up to a higher level and come back to Indy and snap off the action. At her level a ball or 2 would be huge along with a little more seasoning.

She has learned how to win. Now she just has to keep putting herself in the right situations to get the cash.

One thing for sure is she will be back in Indy someday. But for now she just needs to get it don't wherever she's at.

Concussion, having seizures and teaching and still trying to play on the road, give me a break.

I've been on the road for 5 years with no trouble. Even had a few bad physical setbacks but always bounced back.

This concussion thing was more than just a speed bump.

Granted, having Rhea on the road was a little more expensive but we got by.

My mother passed about 3 weeks ago and we made the trip back to Wisconsin and stayed here for the whole time. Rhea never complained once about the expenses coming back to Wisconsin.

Put back the money to come back to Wis and we would be in good shape.

If you could ever come with me and see how I operate you might give me a little respect.

Where there is a will there is a way.

Rhea has the will and so do I. I just showed her the way.

I don't know hardly anyone that has been on the road for 5 years and faded it.

Just doing what I enjoy, helping players play the game they love just a little bit better.

So here you have Gene, an elderly player who`s had some success, egg on a young inexperienced woman with a obvious gambling problem, for some reason the young woman trusts Gene and they go on the road togehter "colour of money" style.
Things quickly go downhill, Rhea can`t hold on to enough money to own a car or even smaller items like a laptop, smartphone etc.
Gene becomes sick and they decide to split up.
Gene asks for money on Rheas behalf. Rhea claims everything is fine and dandy and she can get a job anytime she wants and that shes the best at anything she sets her mind to.
She just likes this pool thing...
So now we are here, seeing people donating money so she can get an ipad - an item myself and i trust most of AZ`ers could at anytime of the month, week or year could go out and buy and not have any problems paying bills or buying food because of it.

That`s my synopsis of this thread.

I can`t help feeling that Gene is some what responsible for Rheas situation and that he can`t use he`s own experiences as a guide for Rheas life.
Gene has most probeably more natural skill than Rhea, he started playing in a very different time, where gambling probeably could get you food on the table if you had the right skills. And most importantly it seems that Rhea has not grasped that it`s tuition that is Genes main income...

I know Americans value their freedom and that being brought up in the "you can do anything you want" mentality conditions people to have a more relaxed attitude to people that steps off the path like Rhea is doing, as it is viewed as an individual`s right to do so if he or she pleases.
Some things are worth sacrificing for, if the potential payout is large enough. Like athletes training for years for a certain event, like the olympics or a scientist spending years in Cern to prove the existance of the Higgs boson.

Rhea`s case is nothing like this, she is in a enviroment where she is a small shark, swimming with much larger sharks, she seems not to be able to objectively judge her skills, she has a huge gambling problem and a inflated ego.

People get desperate when they don`t have money, i can see Rhea doing petty crimes, tricks etc. in the near future if she contiues like this.

To be honest, I feel a lot of it is because she is a woman. From what I can tell, so many guys get attached to any sort of woman involved in what is mainly a man's game. So it is no surprise to see people fall hook line & sinker for a woman looking for cash for pool especially gambling.

She didn't ask for any money. I thought it would be cool if a few AZers that have loved reading about her progress, ups and downs, would help her out so we can continue to hear about her real life travels and experiences.

I'm talking about a little laptop or something for $200 or so. To tell her story here on Az. There have been many followers if you havn't noticed?

But how long are you willing to starve Gene?
If you`re livelihood depends on having money to put up for a match ( let alone expenses for food, motel room, transport, equipment, table rent etc.)
and you don`t have said money, i think desperation comes pretty quickly as your entire existence depends on the following:
1. having the money.
2. winning the match.
3. constantly beat the odds, as to stay profitable.

Admittedly i have no experience in this world, but i do know that casinos are not buildt on winners!
