Someone please help me understand trying to sell a cue online without pics!

And what I'm saying is you are solving an imaginary problem. Find me one thread about a cue or case deal where the buyer came to the forum to complain or seek help where the sale took place in a For Sale thread without pictures.

The For Sale Forum has problems galore, but this isn't one of them.

I'd like to see all the cues and have all the details, whether I'm interested in buying or not and I have never purchased a cue without seeing it (that I can remember) but that's just my own curiosity and personal preference why make a rule for it? Who are we protecting?

And again. If AZ was interested in legislating for the "protection" of their cue buyers which rule do you think they would institute first?

1) cue pictures

or

2) satisfaction guarantee

Thanks

Kevin

Its fine that you do not perceive this as a problem. Maybe it isn't. I don't know.

I honestly don't see a downside to having a requirement to post a picture of the item that is being sold though. I don't really have a emotional investment on this subject. Just sharing my opinion on the topic. Cheers!

The For Sale thread has a zillion problems, over bumping is for sure one of them, but a rule regarding pics won't solve a single thing.

Sorry if I missed your point. I'm here feel free to come again.

Your right it won't solve anything. Check the $1000 thread again, I could be wrong but it looked like Dean posted 6 times after the thread was started. Sometimes the time gets goofed up on my pc and I have to reset it....don't mean he's a bad guy, just pointing out an easy instance of the question at hand.

WOW I hadn't seen that thread, it blew up for sure. Even if Dean over bumped it in responding to the blow-up of posts, I think we both can agree that the problem there has nothing to do with pics or no pics. Seeing it was sorta a charity deal, maybe he should have posted it in the Main Forum or something, but I'd have a hard time calling a guy to task over something as big-hearted as that holiday gesture.

Thanks

kevin

C'mon Stakehorse get your head out of your butt:grin:......in the meantime I'm looking to buy some high end cats and silverware with paypal backed with a credit card......know where I can find any?

Imagine what we have come to.....a forum that sells high ticket items and people are saying sellers don't have to post pictures.

Really?

:frown:

I don't really care if somebody is trying to sell something without any pictures.... I simply will not buy it. I am sure a lot of people here feel the same way.

What I don't understand is, every cell phone has a camera. Many of the cell cameras are actually pretty good. It is easy to move a picture file over to a PC and it is easy to post a picture on this site. So why are we having this conversation. Post pics of the cue when you are selling it!

Maybe it's because you are 35 years old, but I am afraid you are quite
uninformed. Plenty of people don't have camera phones. Granted as
a percentage it is pretty small.

I just spent half an hour on the phone with my ex-mother-in-law.
A sweet lady, who, tho her phone probably does have a camera, she
would not know how to use it, and there is zero chance she could upload
pix to a forum. She couldn't send a text if her life depended on it.

Now what if her husband had bought a Rambow in 1963 - would you really
want to disqualify that cue from consideration?

Dale

Yep, might have to take a chance on something like that for $1000 sight unseen.

Right or the guy with no digital pics that inherited two unplayed 1960s cues from his Uncle that described them on the phone by saying one had a girl's name (Gina) on it.

Kevin

The cues are probably going to turn out to be a steal and the money was for his mother-in-law's situation
that seems to me required fast action, hence, the great deal. For anything like that, cut a man some slack,
especially Dean, who's never knocked anyone on the Forum and besides, is a stand-up guy in my book.

And as far as offering a cue for sale sans photos or description, so be it. It's his sale thread and whom on this
Forum is empowered to render judgement on the suitability or acceptability of Dean's sale threads. And it's
important to recall that "NO ONE HAS GOTTEN SCREWED ON A CUE PURCHASE WITH DEANOC" and you
don't hear complaints from folks that's purchased from Deanoc. I've found him to be a man of his word in our dealings.

have any of you guys ever bought a new cue from George,Gus ,Barry,Southwest,Jake H or any ofthe other greats

did you see a picture before you bought?of course not

what we have here is people that want to look at pictures, kick tires and talk.most of the complainers don't buy from me or anybody else

there are many reasons i do things my own way
if the cues were stolen, you get pictures from the buyers later so that is not a reasonable reason
if you don't want to buy without pictures, why read my post

if you bought from john wright,he got a large percentage of his cues from me and marked them up

if you want pictures look elsewhere
if you want a good cue at a good price from someone you can trust, consider dean

lets have a contest

lets see if you guys can think of one good honest, practical reason why a person might not put pictures here

the first person to actually guess my main reason wins a free case and pool book and a few pieces of
pre flag chalk

all you other guys just please say the same stupid thing over and over but you do not win

feel free to say,i don't like dean,it won't offend me

post away

i know why dean it is because you havent learned how to work the computer to post pics..my guess is because your old school..and in fact you dont care if the tire kickers dont buy in the first place....because you know it will sell because you sell and make deals...

It's because you offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on what you sell. If the buyer does not like or want it, they can send it back in the same condition as received for a full refund.

Because some people don't want others to know what is in their collection for security reasons? Because your camera doesn't work? Because you don't have to? Because it isn't against the rules?

One reason not to post pics would less exposure on the cue. Some collectors don't like cues that have been over-exposed

Because you enjoy the free bumps? Because you believe that when you take a picture the orbs of light are actually people souls that become captured in the photo? Because you can't upload a Polaroid?

Ok, I will settle for the wrapper from a preflag chalk, just sent it priority 1st overnight insured for $5k. Attention mahnamahna, 1 muppet lane, Kermit the frog, CA 92745. Thanks

A man is only as good as his word and that is all he has. Dean, your integrity is reason enough not to post pics.

Who cares why people do what they do, post'em don't post'em don't matter. Those that want to pass will pass and those that want to buy will buy. The attention the threads draw both positive and negative is why threads like this get started. That $1000 cue thread just happens to be a prime example, and it just happens to be Deans. This went from why do people not post pictures (no specific name unless I missed it) to everyone saying how good of a guy Dean is...lol who said otherwise. That's the exact same thing that happens almost every time in the WFS section and is exactly what keeps all them threads at the top. I mean c'mon, it's obvious that almost every post in that thread is pointless when it comes down to it. What will ultimately happen is things like this will create enough drama that the mods will get tired of it and everyone will potentially be screwed. It's happened on lots of other forums.

Maybe a sticky can be added in the WFS section that says;
- Posting pictures is optional, same 48 hour rule applies to OP
- Members do not post in thread complaining or asking for pictures, in other words no more free bumps every 10 minutes
- Members do not post in thread countering those complaining about lack of pictures...again pushing everything off the first page

Just a thought

Poperoony, I can guarantee you one thing, Dean doesn't need yours or anyone elses money.

Dean likes nice cues and he likes to horse trade and dicker. Sometime he might tell you that he has a very nice cue for sale at a decent price. If you play along, you may be pleasantly surprised when you open the tube.

I don't know about you but sometimes I like surprises.
