Earl Strickland vs Nick Varner - Super Great Shot

Actually, it took whole lotta skill to create that much luck.
So, both.

You gotta love Earl though...
"I don't see nothin' funny."
(makes good hit)
"Look at this shot!!"

(makes sick kick-combo and wins game)

If it was me I'd just be trying to hit the ball and send it up table. My guess is Earl was trying to do that.

not sure what's funnier Earls antics after the fluke or Varners major hack on the 2.

Earl's shot AND reaction got him pool's first EVER ESPN Play Of The Week when it happened.

I don't think he tried to kick the 9 in,but coming 2 rails and thinning the ball to send it up table and create distance WAS his plan. Tommy D.

100% Luck

If I had to look at this from a deeper angle one would say that "I is known that americans never really use to play any specific shot while kicking (depending on the layout) and it was brought to light that the Pinoys are the one who helped create that in them" judging by the time that this match took place and the force in which Earl hit it and not to mention his anger at the time I would say that it was pure rage kicking, cause going behind it for the side seemed to be a more plausible kick. I agree...Lenny, thanks for posting this...lot of fun.

Take a look at the out angle required to hit the ball and make it travel in a true diagonal path to hit the nine ball.

Now, the nine ball was huge, but most people would come deep on that hit and place it up table, maybe middle of the short rail. To skim it with such power that it goes in that path with that force, well

Play the Global Lottery and bet the ponies.

Typical Earl....whining like a little girl when he is hooked, and putting on the show when he lucks one in.

Lenny knows that bad rolls eventually even out....even for Earl

Thanks for sharing.
