I enjoyed the interview very much and appreciate what Greg Sullivan is doing for the game. It was interesting to hear how he got his start along with his genuine love and passion for the game. My opinion is a bit biased when it comes to Bonus Ball obviously and I do not feel it affected Tunica because if the numbers were too low because a few pro players did not show that makes no sense to me since majority of Bonus Ball players did attend. I feel it was more about fan turnout which has nothing to do with Bonus ball then about a few guys not making the trip. I know many did not care for the location and weather, even Billy Incardona commented how he got bit up by mosquito there and was not attending again so I think many fans and players felt the same about Tunica.
I know that Badi Nazhat had the best intentions and his event did not have the numbers and nearly every Bonus Ball player showed up to play in that particular event at Tunica. He had great prize money but it did not fill up, I think that event would have been better off happening at Derby as opposed to Tunica because it could have been a success. I think people after the first year just did not care for it so they did not return. There are people who have only one big pool vacation a year whether it is Derby, US Open 9 Ball, APA or BCAPL in Vegas, or Super Billiard Expo so many do not ever go to these other events and do the same one annually. It would be great if we could have every one of those people attend each event because the turnout would be huge. I do hope that Greg Sullivan is able to get a pro tour together that is long lasting and can support even 32 players.
I am totally loving the idea of the ten foot tables, I doubt poolrooms will go for it because of the size factor but for tournament play with these pros it makes sense to challenge them. Maybe we will start seeing a 10 foot table in every major pool room around the country soon, I would welcome one here in Phoenix that is for sure.
