Interview with Greg Sullivan

I went to the Derby this year for 8 days and took along some of my camera gear.
I managed to get Greg to give me some time out of his busy schedule for this interview.
I am working on some other videos from the derby and will post them as I complete them.
Thank you Greg for taking the time.
I hope you enjoy it.

you wade throw 1000 posts that have as much benefit to the world as a pile of cat sh$t.. THEN you get something like this.... THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the best 37 minutes of billiard news / informative history I have come across in a very long time... I had to pause it ... make fresh coffee so I could really sit and enjoy!

Gambling, 10 foot tables, 860 Simonis, Pocket size, Bonus ball.. This is a great interview.

.... OK ... another thought --- I am just going to re-watch this .... stop reading AZ.... and practice / play more... most positive discussion I have heard in a long time!

Thanks again...

A+

Greg is a wonderful person, he really cares about pool.

He showed up at a event that I was shocked to see him show up at in Chicago several years ago. He came because he cares.

I enjoyed the interview very much and appreciate what Greg Sullivan is doing for the game. It was interesting to hear how he got his start along with his genuine love and passion for the game. My opinion is a bit biased when it comes to Bonus Ball obviously and I do not feel it affected Tunica because if the numbers were too low because a few pro players did not show that makes no sense to me since majority of Bonus Ball players did attend. I feel it was more about fan turnout which has nothing to do with Bonus ball then about a few guys not making the trip. I know many did not care for the location and weather, even Billy Incardona commented how he got bit up by mosquito there and was not attending again so I think many fans and players felt the same about Tunica.

I know that Badi Nazhat had the best intentions and his event did not have the numbers and nearly every Bonus Ball player showed up to play in that particular event at Tunica. He had great prize money but it did not fill up, I think that event would have been better off happening at Derby as opposed to Tunica because it could have been a success. I think people after the first year just did not care for it so they did not return. There are people who have only one big pool vacation a year whether it is Derby, US Open 9 Ball, APA or BCAPL in Vegas, or Super Billiard Expo so many do not ever go to these other events and do the same one annually. It would be great if we could have every one of those people attend each event because the turnout would be huge. I do hope that Greg Sullivan is able to get a pro tour together that is long lasting and can support even 32 players.

I am totally loving the idea of the ten foot tables, I doubt poolrooms will go for it because of the size factor but for tournament play with these pros it makes sense to challenge them. Maybe we will start seeing a 10 foot table in every major pool room around the country soon, I would welcome one here in Phoenix that is for sure.

Sounds like a good interview, I won't be able to watch it for a while but can anyone elaborate on if he mentioned anything about the DCC patrons overall nut at the Horseshoe vs Tunica? I know they compete for guests in Tunica which makes the rooms cheaper vs the "Monopoly in New Albany", just curious.

Great interview, thanks for posting. So he said at Tunica last year he had to pay Harrah's 20K because the guaranteed concessions fell short?

Excellent interview, excellent guy. The old guy still has a sparkle in his eye too.
Im now a fan.

That's what he said but didnt a couple of pool players go off big on the tables?

Not to mention how they determined who spent what at the concessions? I was there and no one asked me when i spent my cash.

Tunica was just a bad location-people who went the first year didnt go back including at least one commentator who was comped and paid. No one new came except one sucker from NY.

Four events a year like the DCC is rough to pull off though. As Greg pointed out it was the bank players who really gave the DCC life. You wont have that same dynamic/catalyst anywhere else in the USA.

Four Bigfoot type events alongside some kinda 60-100 7 footers though seems real doable. Maybe build from there. You can never start with an extravaganza in pool. You gotta crawl before you walk

Greg Sullivan has been so good for the game.......

Gambling, 10 foot tables, 860 Simonis, Pocket size, Bonus ball.. This is a great interview.

He's been there, done this or that on the road. We in the pool world are so lucky to have a person like Greg that took the initiative to try to make things better.

I'm sure the beginning of this was really a struggle but his determination to make things better has gotten us here with a great product.

Diamond tables.

great interview and even tired Greg said it the way it was like a true professional that he is.

Thanks Greg for doing what you have done for pool and are still doing it.

I sure wish there were more people like Greg in the billiard industry. I agree with most everything he said. Thanks for posting the interview.

Good interview. Hopefully some people with pull in the industry will team up with Greg to make that dream a reality. It is doable but not without each company or organization pointing fingers at each other trying to pass the blame
