Rodney shows up in Reno

yobagua, or whatever your name is (I would address you by your name if you would use it as a signature at the end of your posts)

I'm not even sure that you have the most basic understanding of who is responsible for what tournaments. You have mentioned many things done by many players, that not only are in the past, but weren't even at an event promoted by CSI.

When a promoter puts up his own $100k to put on an event and takes all the risks involved. He has the right to pick and choose any or all players he wants to. Yes, the public has a right to like it or not. If they don't, then they don't attend his events. They certainly don't tell him how to spend his money. Of course, if you think you should be able to tell him how to spend his money, then I would have the right to tell you to put up $25,000 in added money to the SBE. Of course, that wouldn't have anything to do with CSI or Mark Griffin because he doesn't have anything to do with putting on that event.

If you read a few posts back you would see I publically spent sometime using my name and explaining who I was and what I did. I even gave a short resume as to my background.
As far as the examples that I mentioned I spoke of Earl and his behavior at the Derby as well as Alex who played drunk at the finals of the 14.1 event at the same Derby. I think those are produced by Mark. You should get your facts straight before you assert
accusations.
Im not in professional pool and I m not attacking you or Mark. I want Morris to have a way to get back into the graces of CSI. I am a fan I enjoy watching him play. I am biased. But I have opinions. And if you take offense. That is not my problem.
But please don't talk down to every fan just because they have not done what you've done. We all have experiences in life and you are not the arbiter of what I understand about economic and political situations

I think the matter between Rodney and Mark Griffin has turned into a personal matter between them.

Rodney is obviously upset and feels slighted by Mark, and Mark Griffin is also upset because he feels disrespected. In fact, both of them feel that the other has shown disrespect, and both of them have pride and self-respect.

In this regard, the consequences of this will harm Rodney more than Mark, sad to say.

Anybody who knows Rodney is well aware that he is a gentle soul, but he feels very strongly about his stance in this matter.

The celebrity of the American pool professional is a tough one. Walk into a pool happening, and these pros are stars and treated as such, getting their photos taken, autographs asked for, et cetera. Outside of the pool happening, nobody knows who the pool celebrity is. This reality is a hard pill to swallow for the American pool professional.

I actually feel bad for both sides of this equation. They say time heals all wounds. Maybe some time needs to transpire and the two sides and enter into a colloquy once emotions have calmed.

There you go making sense again. Right from the heart. Thanks JAM

I think the matter between Rodney and Mark Griffin has turned into a personal matter between them.

Whatever Rodney has against Mark, it sounds like it is personal for him. You keep mentioning that Rod is passionate about pool. If being passionate
about your feelings includes bad mouthing someone, I guess that Rod passionated himself out of the picture.

As far as I know, Mark hasn't made any personal comments on Face Book or AZB toward
Rod or any of the other Pro Players.

It should have been between them. Unfortunately, Rod would voice his opinions to who ever would lend an ear.

Apparently, many of the things that were said got back to Mark.

Personal for Mark, possibly. If people are talking of you behind your back, not expecting it to get back to the subject, of course Mark's feeling may have been hurt. Thats natural.

And couple that with the possibility that Mark has decided that he has the where with all to change pool, and for the good, he has started restructuring his Pool business model.

Much the same as anyone would do before they started a new business or make changes to their existing model.

Out with the Old, (bad), and in with the New.

Apparently as it stands at the moment, Rod and a few others don't fit into the plans that Mark has for the future. Maybe Mark has plans to attract sponsors and include television.

Rod et al, were fired from their jobs.

I am employed by the Health District, (Government). If I start posting nasty comments toward my employers on Face Book, I would say the chances
are pretty good that I will be having a meeting with the Union in short order.

Derby is produced by Diamond not CSI. Mark is a partner in Diamond but doesnt have anything to do with running the Derby at all. The Derby tournaments themselves are run by BadBoys. CSI produces the USBTC and BCAPL Nationals also ran by BadBoys.

There....clear as mud.

Lets all keep in mind that Mark isn't the only promoter to feel this way. Pool lost another great benefactor in Badi this year. Again, for the very same reasons.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Maybe one of the reasons as to the fewer events coming up in 2014.

Jen mentions that Rod and others are just being passionate about pool.

If a promoter continually hosts an event, doesn't make anything, or little, puts in countless hours on this and the next event, I would call that being passionate as well.

Get enuff slaps in the face and start feeling that you are not being respected or appreciated, look what happens.

The pool world is fortunate that Mark just didn't pack the entire shebang up and say, screw it.

Thank you for allowing me to address you by your name.

I think the reason I have questioned some of your opinions is that they appear to be based things that simply are not true. Now, I completely understand that unless someone has been in the middle of all this, they they would not be able to really know all that is behind the things that happen. The issue is that when people who do know reply to let you know that there is more to this than what you may be aware of, you insist on continuing with your stance. Basically, that means you don't care what the facts are or if you actually know them or not. You just think everyone should adjust to your way of thinking. You see, I don't mind a debate. Especially when they directly involve how I make my lively hood. But a debate is about factual information and a logical discussion of that information. I gave you information and you decided I was wrong without even doing any research.

So, with that said, I wish you well. My time here has come to an end. I've said my peace, and that's all I can do.

Have a great day and shoot well!

Thank you for the response. But the facts for me is this. Rodney is banned from CSI events. Yes Mark does have a right to exclude anyone or thing from his promotions. But as a fan is there anyway of allowing a valuable entity back in? I don't think you are wrong Im trying to access to the human element. Is there some way Mark and Rodney can make amends over the situation. If they cant then so be it. But Im not going to hate anyone. No one committed murder here or a felony. And that is a fact. The rights of a business man or the rights of a player I don't want to debate. Only the two of them can supply the answer I consider the crux of the situation.

Have a great day yourself and good luck to you

Keone, I believe that you have mentioned or asked the same question more than once.

The only person that can give you an answer 100% is Mark himself.

Others have offered their opinions re your question.

Myself, with no dog in the fight beyond taking the side of Mark, I don't care if Rod is banned for life or that he can eventually make amends.

Do you believe that Leopards can change their spots?

This wasn't something that happened over night. So I doubt the solution will come over night or with a snap of the fingers.

As others have opined, Rodney will have a long row to hoe in the future and then when he proves to be the stand up person/player, the kind that Mark wants representing his
Events, then maybe something will change.

Until then, its on Rodney's shoulders and not Marks. Mark doesn't have anything to prove to Rod.

So far, with continued face Book Rants, it doesn't appear that Rod wants a change.

I take it that you are a member of the Screen Actors Guild. What would happen if you started bad mouthing Kurt Sutter. do you think that Kurt would ever have you on another one of his sets?

Kurt has a serious bright future so he wouldn't be one the people you would want to mess up with. And who knows just how far his influence goes.

The same as Mark's in the Pool World. Unfortunately, Rod may have dicked himself out of more than he knows at the moment.

is this a Charlie Sheen reference?

(Matt #2, i need a jpg!)

No, it has to do with the fact that Keone appeared in many episodes of Sons Of Anarchy, before he took 3 to the chest at the end of last season.

You know more about it than I do Keone, and I don't even read National Enquirer.

I was short one movie to apply to ACTRA. I arranged for some Country Dancers for a movie that Mia Kirschner was staring in.

When they started to get abused and cold, I moved them over to a warmer part of the building that they were using for the set.

I got shit for that, got into an argument and was told that I would never work again locally. They were right, I didn't and I didn't much care either.

Burned bridges can always be rebuilt. Takes time but it's possible. Humans have an amazing capacity to forgive.
