What's really interesting about this thread is that its dated 2005 and, you make reference to the fact that there were some 3,000 members back then.
Jeez this site has grown a LOT in that time.
Today, there are some are multiple-identitied members. A person may forget their password or e-mail, and so they re-create a new identity. And then there's the banned members and multiple-identitied trolls posting, but hopefully, they're in the minority.
As well, some members might decide to join this forum and may never come back after a few posts. I have joined various non-pool-related forums in the past, thinking I would enjoy them, but after a while, due to lack of activity or interest, I quit posting on them. I'm sure that happens here a lot.
And then, sad to say, some members are still listed as "active," but they are deceased. I know Hemicudas, as an example, is still listed as an active member, and he passed away a few years ago. I'm sure there are others who have passed away, but no one may know about them being gone because they were anonymous.
This is still the largest pool website on the Internet, and it has grown by leaps and bounds. The climate on this forum has changed a lot, and for me personally, some of it is good, but some of it is not my cup of tea.
Just like pool tournaments, you can't please everybody.
