Does a cue butt have a finite amount of hits in it?

How has this thread gone on this long without degenerating into a discussion of butt cracks?

When I was young, I fell down some stairs. Put a crack in my butt, still has not healed.

Maybe he just misspelled the thread and it should have been "Does a CUTE butt have a finite amount of hits in it".
In that case I'd say no, I'd hit dat cute butt an infinite amount of times.

There, that should completely derail this thing :)

Regular use of an extension will drastically reduce the number of hits the butt will sustain.

cue builders like myself build a self destruct into each cue so after a certain amount of time it will start to deteriorate,so when you notice that you are missing shots that you always made in the past, that is a signal for you to buy yourself another cue.

this is the reason all of us builders are filthy rich !!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree and highly recommend you buy your
"self-destruct" cues from Chuck. He builds the best ones
around. His new ones are "Monsters" and "Hit a Ton" but
when they start to hit 1/2 a ton it's time to re-order.

Good point
I witnessed the certified cycle testing, and the use of an extension reduced the number of hits by 25%, +/- 5% depending on stroke velocity.
In other words, if you are an everyday poolplayer with an average stroke that uses an extension, your butt will crack at 115000 hits.

A good cue will last you forever provided you take care of it. You are changing the oil in it every 10,000 hits, aren't you?

also depends just how hard of a head your using the butt of the cue on....I would think one swing into Mike Deschaine's head would be the end of my Jacoby

Shhhh. Don't tell my 70 yr old BBC or my 50 yr old Tru Balance.

They still play pretty snazzy. Don't need them getting any smart ideas about retiring.

I have a couple of younger 20 and 30 yr olds too.

I have the one that is much older than I. A couple that are pushing my age and a few that will out live me by a long shot. Not to mention the 6 senior citizens that I haven't converted yet.

If a person has a half decent cue, the last thing that you should concern yourself with is you out living your cue.
