Left Handed Lathe

I did something that I cannot remember doing before. I built a left handed cue lathe for a customer. He said he could never get used to working on right handed lathes. After trying a few things on the lathe, I am convinced I would never want to work on a left handed lathe since I am right handed, so it makes sense a left hander would want to work from the left side.

On the other hand I think most left handers are used to living in a right handers world and naturally do things differently. My wife looked at the new lathe and said she could never work with it and she is left handed.

I just use the other end of the Lathe for any LH side work. I have not done a tail stock for the LH side though. I do not use it as often as I thought I would. But the option is there.

I'm left handed and I would not want to build a cue with a right handed lathe.
I don't get how you guys can do anything right handed, especially a linen wrap.
It just seems backwards   could be the right handed spools

Great now I'm gonna get requests to build left handed cues....lol

I built a cue for a good local player. And when I saw him hit some balls with it, I said "Oh no. I messed up on your cue." He looked at me worried and I said, "I didn't realize you were left handed and I built you a right handed cue."

Chris citizen makes a Swiss cnc lathe that way. They can go either so they can put two machine next to each other with bar feeders going the same direction.

Thats a gag!

Well it has been 26 years at building cue lathes and I just built the first Left Handed lathe earlier this year and I am now about to ship the second one. And both will be in Florida. Who would have thought it?

Hmm . . . left-handed lathe going to the right-coast
I guess we in the middle of the country get the "Swiss Chris" model as defined above - goes both ways - meets in the middle.

Chris,

I just finished a cue called "Leonardo Di Vinci".

It would have been cool to have built it on your left handed lathe. LOL

Btw, you building a left handed lathe as arequest is no surprise to me as you are the ultimate customer service dude alive.

Good form Chris,

Rick

yea we get used to using right handed products......i've been doing diff types of wood working for about 20 years and skill saws for 15 i'd guess....well a few months back i went help a friend out on his home and he had a battery powered skill saw that was left handed...totally wigged me out and couldn't barely cut a 2x4 straight with the thing lol...i even tried CTE and some BHE to no avail lol

Chris,
On page 1 MC2 said "Chris citizen makes a Swiss cnc lathe that way. They can go either so they can put two machine next to each other with bar feeders going the same direction."
