In my opinion, Bill was one of the best American cue-makers and if anyone happens to have a Joss West or Josswest cue mid-18 ozs.
with a flat ivory joint, please contact me. My interest in locating a fancy Ed Prewitt cue would cease if I could get one of Bill's fancy cues
(flat ivory joint - mid 18 ozs) from his early period ('72- - '80) or else the early 90's.

Thanks for this thread & these posts......It reminded to post that if you own a Stroud cue like I've described, and are interested in selling it,
please contact me via PM, or email (bavafongoul@yahoo.com). Why not unload that cue now before the market bottoms out for cues with
ivory due to the new regulation, if you really believe what's being posted on Az right now. I think it's a bunch of hogwash but you might not.

I think you meant the other Matt (since you quoted him), but just in case you were referring to me, mine was just a small poor attempt at humor. I have no problem with him in regards to the cues he has made in his past. My problem with him is his character to which if you research on here you will find out why people are upset with him (you can PM me if you want a more serious answer).

This will be my last post in this thread, responses in red above....and to elaborate just a bit, we all make mistakes and no I don't cast the first stone and am far from perfect....BUT being a man and admitting them is something, just disappearing and not giving any reason or apology, while it is his right is absolutely wrong. THAT is what people are condemning. I don't feel I am owed jack shit as I didn't spend money on the entry.
I do have a problem with how that whole situation developed. How hard is it to say he got overwhelmed, health issues (without saying what they are which would not be our business), or whatever reason he had for not doing it? Nope...he just disappeared. He then on top of it posts on here in random threads as if nothing ever happened...but whatever...I'll feel free to post some comments all I want on him in regards to that...even if it is soso humor because hey, its a forum, and people need to be held accountable for their posts/actions OR lack thereof.
 
Ok let me step in and stop this crap right now. Y'all need to leave your BS negativity out of my thread. This is the exact kind of unnecessary high school drama that I cannot stand on here sometimes. Y'all are going on and on thinking this is a thread aimed towards a certain topic? Going on and on about what's been done, what hasn't been done and some contest or something? I don't have a clue what you guys are talking about and personally I don't care.

I posted this thread in hopes of getting a contact phone number or even an email or something because a buddy of mine Mike Martin who is the owner of the golden cue pool room in odessa, tx has a high end (5k) JW cue that he would like to get authenticated.

Again, I don't have a clue what y'all are talking about or referring to. I'm just a guy who is trying to help out a friend in getting his cue authenticated so leave all that unnecessary crap about something totally different out of my thread.

It is an amusing read, at a minimum.

Stroud started a contest here, promising the winner would have a cue of his (contest winner's) own design made for him. A winner was selected, announced and then Stroud took all the designs and some believe he sold them to overseas manufacturers for a massive profit...now they can copy American designs before America even sells a unit.

When people firs questioned wtf he was doing, he said some shit about how he was fighting wildfires or some other thing a man of his age and mental state would be highly ineffective at. Then he just stopped responding to the matter.

His ability as a cuemaker was never in question, and if your friend wants something authenticated by him, our little forum squabble shouldn't matter one bit. So your mission on behalf of your friend is certainly not misplaced.

(Of course I'm not one to suggest sending a 5k cue to anyone. If it were me, I'd be arranging to meet him in person, cuz I wouldn't trust anyone with a 5k cue, being shipped and expected to be returned....not a Stroud thing, anyone)

That having been said, he does deserve the flack he receives regarding participation on this forum. In my opinion ...of course.

I would never give Stroud my business out of principle. Just because he is a tremendously talented cuemaker does not mean I won't overlook his character. To me it says something about the people who are willing to overlook it. For shame.

Honestly, I am a little lost on the Bill Stroud DYD drama.

I don't think anyone lost any money, but frankly anyone that doesn't live up to a promise does show a lack of character.

I have got screwed over by Showman, others by Zinzola, and still other by numerous others.

By reading how silly everyone sounds on this thread, I guess I need to look at myself a little and see how silly I sound.

I hope everyone moves on, me included.
