I miss playing pool for money

Agree with those who are advising a trip to Millersburg. Chad runs a really good tournament with a calcutta and there is always action to be found. The potential 30x-50x return on investment (if you snap it off) would be enough to get you back in action.

Best of luck,
Aaron

All the effort I put into becoming one of the top players in the country and now everything seems to be on pause or slow rewind.

I think I came to the wrong state, Missouri, (STL) area has the least action of any city I've ever been to, trying to get a $50 set is just about impossible here unless I'm giving up a massive spot that i cannot outrun.

I had my chances to win the open division in Vegas this year just to find myself too broke for the entry fee.

I will be taking a break from pool most likely since I live too far away from a poolroom to walk and I still don't have a car after ditching mine to go with Gene in September.

I just miss playing for money the days I could bet $50 on a single rack of 9 ball have come to pass for me. I'm going to find work and save up for a car and then save a couple months of pay then quit my job and go back out on the road again. I just hope my game doesn't suffer.

your 1st post after the match 2 days ago is this?

it would be prudent of you, to publically post "thanks", to

CHICAGORJ
NINEBALLSAFETY8
BMSCLAYTON
ONEPOCKETJOHN
and whomever gave you a ride
plus the pool hall

without them, you wouldn't be $75 up.

you are predictable. i cleared $75 on this post alone.
change your game.

Here's a million dollar tip for free , go get a job

Yeah, would you hire her?

I know I would not hire her; she is delusional about life, she is clearly only going to work for a limited amount of time, she sounds like she likely has few skills to offer an employer and would need a lot of training, and even when she has it she would not likely be that hard of a worker given the lack of effort she seems to put into even her "pool career" endeavour.

She is going to fail at whatever she does whether that be being a pool player or being an employee for someone. At least her failing at being a pool player is only hurting herself.

This is a long term train wreck you are all watching here that goes beyond the pool career attempt, the collapse of the pool career is only one scene in this play folks, and the story is not going to end pretty.

Little late to the party....

Aaron, are you going to make it this month to the tournament? I haven't seen you since you snapped it off 6-8 months ago or longer.

I'm not sure, Jim. I think I've played pool a whopping 3 times since February, so I'm not feeling too froggy right now, LOL. If nothing else, I may pop in and hang out for a while. I like sweating the matches almost as much as playing these days. Best of luck to you if you play.

Take care,
Aaron

This is a go, just let me know where to show! 8b and banks, right?

lol you missed an earlier post. I am backing a horse gal to play her since she said she will play girl even except Jessica F...it isn't me playing. If she does want to play me on the barbox she has action, but I am not picking her up in my car to just play her, beat her, and then drop her off back home...that sh*t isn't happening.

I will try any of the local girls there except for Jessica, but I can't even get there right now, i'm actually trying to save up enough money for a bus ticket to Vegas to go out there and live for a while. As long as I stay in the pool rooms and in pool tournaments and off of the casino floor I should be fine.

The bus ticket from STL to Las Vegas is over $350 so I probably want to grind out $1000 before I leave here.

That is the cost if you buy the ticket for leaving the same day. If you get it in advance, it is about $160.

Beyond that, if you want to play Julia on any table, just post the money at any pool room/pool location in STL and I will get her there. You can post your cue as well, if it has any value.

Thanks Aaron, I generally do pretty decent, top 10 or so my best finish was a 3rd behind Skylar and Matt Hayes. My last time I played there I played Andy F. from Springfield and We went to the hill and I miscued shooting the 5. It was a brutal loss but I had fun anyways.

I had a pretty good Idea that it was coming too, I just didn't think it would take this long:grin: Rhea may have a good game but.......... well I will just leave it at that.

I didn't miss anything earlier. I'm simply trying to weasel my way into a game. :p

What kind of $ can she get if she bets a pinky finger?

faster

Believe me it would have been much faster except I refuse to give her any action. I do not want be part of her problem and the reason...

Thanks for letting me know I never knew flying was cheaper than a greyhound.

As much time as you spend on the internet it never occurred to you or you never wanted to make the effort to spend the two minutes to look it up to see what it costs? Really?

I don't have a car. If someone were to provide a round trip ride for me I will play...

For someone my speed who is homeless, that sounds like a winning opportunity.

it is the only place I go to since I currently do not have a car and...

I just sleep in cars or in motels but thats the way i make money.

Here is some advice for you. Instead of saving up $1000 so you have enough funds to get to Vegas by bus or plane, why don't you just save up $1000 and buy a tiny car that gets great gas mileage? Then you could drive yourself to Vegas. You could drive to all these pool halls that you constantly complain that you aren't able to get to to make any money. You could get to all these matches that you say you would love to play and could make money in but just can't get to right now. You could get to all these tournaments that you say you can make money in but can't play because you have no way to get there. Sure sounds like a smart investment to me. And with your own car you also have a guaranteed place to spend the night if funds are ever too low for a motel and you won't have to break into any trucks or beg someone else to sleep in their car. Just please get insurance for the car if you get one so that the rest of us don't have to pay for the other person's damages or medical bills if you are in a car accident that is your fault.

And here is even better advice, as has already been given to you by many others. Get a job, and get a car (and insurance). Play pool on the side. The time to quit your job is when you are consistently over a long period of time making more money from pool than you are from your job. With no family, and no outside interests, you would still be able to devote more than enough time to pool to max out whatever playing potential you have.

Brendan - dont you think you posting updates on here of the big money match that Rhea was involved with just adds to the grand delusion this person has that they are something and could be something in the pool world. That they could actually make something out of their life with pool. Maybe you don't, but I do. And I am not saying that you did anything wrong - it is what it is.

A person like Rhea, you could give them countless ways and proof how their life won't go anywhere with their dream of pool but it would do absolutely no good.

I will give Rhea this free advice to really improve their pool game (I have only given this advice to three other people so it is considered held out for those that are only truly deserving of it). This is more valuable than anyone has ever taught Rhea. Even Gene.

Here it is:

Take three weeks off from pool.

Don't think about pool.

Don't dream about pool.

Don't read about pool.

Don't log into AZ.

Don't touch your pool stick.

Don't talk to anyone that you have become associated with because of pool.

Do that for three weeks without fail.

If at anytime you fail in any of these actions during the three weeks, you must start completely over.

After you have done all of those listed above for 21 straight days,.....

Just quit.

I don't know how much my opinion matters at this point... but I think I have a very good suggestion.

Rhea, why not have the best of both worlds... Have you ever thought about getting a job AT THE POOLHALL?

Even if its doing dishes, barback, waitress, working the counter, cleaning toilets... whatever.
This allows you a KNOWN income, and most places that have workers, allow them to play for free whenever not on the clock.

That way you are making money without the hustle, and have unlimited access to whatever action might walk through the door.

I would advise though, to only ever play with half of what is in your pocket... AT MOST

Or just gamble with X percentage of your tips only..... Not a bad idea if she can find a job at a pool hall. I put in HOURS of table time when I worked at a pool hall, and had experienced players there all the time to show me how to improve my game.. I came early, worked, and stayed late when I could.

Your cost of living would be much lower by staying in one place. Heck, you could even save up for bigger tournaments. If it's pool you love, this is a smart move. If it's gambling you love, look for a gambling anon group. Or don't...

Watchez you may be correct sir. I didn't really think about that. I was updating it for a couple people who requested including the guy who bet on Jay. I didn't think about the publicity I was giving her.

Good Advice to her as well.
