You are right, the TIP (Touch of Inside Pivot) is everything.....well, it can be anyway.
One thing that's almost "supernatural," is if you touch the actual tip by squeezing it in your bridge hand BEFORE you go down to shoot you will feel the cue ball more intensely.
This is a little "secret" to maximizing your touch and feel, especially under pressure.
I tried this last night and it really works.I don't know how it works, but by squeezing the tip and ferrule seemed to make me bear down

I've heard a lot of people say negative things about how CJ's trying to milk everything he can out of pool since he's "washed up" now and that he contributes nothing but "the game is the teacher" or "TOI is the teacher" but I agree with YOU and not them.
Thank you for posting and everything you do on here CJ
Always a great supporter of the game.
The game IS the teacher.
And so is ziggystardust on here.
Ziggystardust is the real teacher.
CJ,
I'm not sure, but I think MANY people on this forum don't "real eyes" just how well you play TODAY!
I have made it a habit to watch as many of the professional players' matches as I can and I have seen some of yours, up close, and you still have a TOP-TOP, PROFESSIONAL GAME.
I am still amazed at the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth that goes on when you mention any of your techniques. It is even more amazing that you don't give your haters a tongue-lashing that they deserve. Credit to you for having great tolerance.
Thanks for staying around AZ Billiards. WE ARE BETTER PLAYERS BECAUSE OF YOU!
And yes, TOI does work and it works very well.

Yeah, too bad none of my "critics" gamble, or I'd offer them a game they couldn't refuse.
I was lucky enough to win my 9th tournament in a row tonight AND hit the "Break and Run" contest for $1000. - my game's back to about 96-97%....I'm not sure what it's going to take to get back to 100% without consistent action.....maybe it's time for a 'road trip" ......anything happening in New Orleans?
My game isn't 100% (compared to 90's) however, it's a solid 95% now which is a pretty good sign. Some may say it's 97% considering I won my 5th tournament in a row last night.
The important thing is I'm absolutely enjoying the game and interacting with players and enthusiasts again. I have many people on AZ BILLIARDS to thank for this because it has to with all the participation in the last 14 months......I've made almost 8000 posts and interacted with tens of thousands of players by PM, FaceBook, YouTube, and Email.
Also the 'Touch of Inside', 'Billiards Inside Secrets' and 'TIP Banking Secrets were actually directed primarily at the AZBILLIARDS participants that wanted access to some of the more advanced methods used by myself and other road players I played and traveled with.
Overall it's been a Blessing to be involved on this forum and the best is yet to come. If all goes with well with my current project we'll be seeing pool on TV more in the next year than we have in quite some time. 'The Game is the Teacher'
Yesterday it was 5 in a row, today it's 9 in a row. 4 tournaments in a day. Actually, in only 11 hours! wow! I'm impressed! Were there any other people besides you playing in them?
If any of the knockers think CJ won't gamble give me a call and we'll be in your town with a satchel of cash to let you prove you are the better player. Of course, we all know you will not back up your critical comments about the ONLY real professional player who takes the time to help us improve our pool games.
You are persistent aren't you, maybe y'all should just agree to disagree

It's "oil" alright, and if someone's serous about pool it may be an "essential oil".![]()
For what it's worth, I learned a little SECRET about "oil" from the best money player I ever saw in action. He was from Texas and I've written about him on here before. I knew him as "J. D. Tyler", he was also called "J. D. Taylor", and I've heard somebody say he was "Jack Taylor".
He was the first person who introduced me to Le Pro French tips, a 21 ounce cue, and a 14mm tip way back when I worked in a pool hall as a young teen. He was the first guy I saw using what is now called "TOI".
When he gave me the tip and I put it on the cue, he polished the edges of the tip with black shoe polish and then he put a drop of "sewing machine oil" on the top of the tip and let it soak in for a while before the cue was played with.
The oil will soften the tip up some and keep it from drying out. You have to make sure it is just a drop or less to keep from overdoing it.
Aloha.
Thanks, bud, sounds like Jackson didn't turn out so well, I'm trying to make it back down to New Orleans sometime soon......I still owe Joey a pool lesson and I'm craving a bowl of that gumbo I had a few months ago when I was gambling at Buffalo Billiards.
He reads ALL of my posts....it's just "slightly" creepy.![]()
No it's actually very creepy, he seems a bit obsessed
