I love the way this cue plays and looks but I always wished it was a little heavier. Since Joel does not use weight bolts his method to add weight is to inlay silver into the handle at certain spots to control the balance. This entailed removing the old wrap, adding the inlay, a refinish and a new dark brown elephant ear wrap. Just like new and the weight is perfect for me. The butt is now 15oz. (vs. 14.4 oz.), the two shafts I use are 4.2 oz. and the other two shafts are 4.0 oz. Brazilian Rosewood points and butt.

Very nice. Just the way I like em! It's great that you're not afraid to play with it. Congrats.

Wow…

…what a stunning cue (especially the forearm is brutal) !!

Do you also have pics of the weights added? This is very interesting…

Another Happy Player

I know what you mean..
Joel's great at customer service.
Even with a lifetime of work ahead of him,
He still give's his upmost attention/satisfaction to detail to all..
He helps me a lot..

Always a pleasure to see a Hercek Cue..
Thanks for posting..

Alton

Sharp looking classic.
Wish there were pictures of the inlay in the wrap :)

Hi all. Thanks, Alton. You're right, Joel is the best!!! You too!!! The three joint protectors are by you  Sorry everyone but I don't have pictures as to how Joel did the weight inlays.

Joel kept the balance within a quarter of an inch of the original balance which feels the same as the original weight which is slightly forward weighed.

Smart

David that cue is double smart. Smart looking and a smart way for Joel to increase the weight while keeping everything in balance. That is a intense piece of Tiger Maple. I see why that is your player.

Love the cue and that maple certainly stands out. Congrats and I'm glad Joel adjusted the weight for you. Thanks for explaining how he did it. Maybe others have heard of this method, but it's a first for me.

Joel is really something special, just as Alton mentioned earlier. I'm not even the original owner of the cue and as busy as he is (booked out forever!) he still went to the trouble of doing this work for me because he wanted me to be happy with my cue – and the work was pretty intensive to get the weight just right. He is an absolute gentleman and anyone who is lucky enough to be on his list will be very happy with the process from start to finish.

15 OZ is the perfect weight of the butt.

I like my shafts 4.0-4.25 or there abouts.

Ken;)
