And RKC words were not bannable -- which I guess is obvious since he was not? Since you are clearing the air, I just want to understand what is or is not bannable?

I'm sure it is like dealing with children. Guilty as charged. Perhaps we are treated like children, too.
I think a more visible presence from the mods would be helpful here, just as ordinary posters. That would act as a reminder that there actually IS moderation, as the only time you really notice it is when someone gets banned, which is usually for doing something everyone else was doing anyway. It is arbitrary and unfair at the moment, with the perception the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
A wider debate on what is or isn't allowed is long overdue. I think mods should start this and keep it on topic.
Ditto..... instead of stirring the pot by posting here what I really think of a certain Iindividuals, I am one of the "children" that reported a post. I, or anyone else, absolutely didn't deserve that comment (not you Ron). We did the right thing instead of fanning the flames some more. Its becoming ridiculous what we have to put up with here. I've had it. I'm done.
It was a discussion until Glen popped in, which he is entitled to do.

You have 2 members that will end up causing more problems than either are worth in the long run.
And one that seems to get a free pass because he is who he is. He should receive a warning re his recent behavior and if that doesn't straighten him out, he goes also.
So, none of these members together are worth one Mark Griffin. They're still here and Mark is gone.

Wow.... I had no idea it was so terrible here. Why is it some of us can exist just fine without the drama?
No matter how God damn important you want to make yourself, you're a dime a dozen. You put together tables, install cloth and pat yourself on the back for a living. Forgive us all for not being the least bit impressed.

Here lies a problem though. Half of the users say that warnings and bans should be handled privately, so as not to rub the users nose in it. The other half say that warnings should be public so that everyone knows that people do get warned.
Believe me, I have been doing a lot of warning lately. Users are getting warnings.

There is a difference between simply reporting a post (as we have asked users to do), and going with the "xxxx is the reason that no one ever comes to AzB anymore. They are the anti-christ, and I will never ever come to this site while they are allowed to post".

It is a very slippery slope when we start allowing a user to give us an "It's them or me" ultimatum.

I think a VERY SMALL VERY QUICK temp ban was an OK move for the direct and open "go **** yourself" as they try to keep the forum fairly profanity free. That being said I don't know RKC or either of them really, but I see more insults, up front, backhanded, being peoples back, and to everyone on the forum from RKC than anyone.
I'm not sure why either?

Side note,
What was poolhustler talking about with the diamond "down angles" - was he just talking about when you "diamondize" Gold Crowns or the angles of Diamond spec tables in general.
I just really really prefer Diamonds but have no issues with Gold Crowns.
I love any table with 6 pockets except for ones not kept up..

He really should go work for NASA, where his brilliance will be more appreciated. Maybe he could INSTALL the first table on the moon or maybe even mars. I would just love hearing his reports on how he perfectly leveled the slates while at zero gravity.

I learned that from RKC -- act like you know everything and everyone else knows nothing. Then no one questions you (or takes your bet).
It is difficult to act as an adult when "the rules" are so capriciously enforced.
How do you act as an adult when John was tossed so many times, for short periods, only to be allowed to come back under his own name and aliases? How can you act as an adult when PJ gets banned for two years for behavior that never came close to what JB did on a regular basis? It's an illogical expectation, when "the rules" are enforced (or not) at a whim.
How do you act as an adult when some get publicly scolded, while others get a warning in private? When some guys are allowed to tell other members they are full of shee-at, are a douche bag, a dick, while others are not allowed anywhere near the same latitude?
How are the members to act as adults when Sister Mary Moderator is up front, slapping a ruler into her palm going, "I'm getting tired of this. Settle down class."
How can you even expect the membership-at-large to care, when entire discussions by the many, get vaporized because of the words of the few?
If you feel the membership is composed of children, and address them that way, no one can be surprised if that's what you get. If, OTOH, you believe there is some expectation of adult conduct here, then there needs to be even-handed, respectful treatment of the membership and what they write.

I don't agree with banishment! But another form of discipline. I suggest public humiliation via a naught list! 1 week sentence 2 weeks 3 weeks or 4 weeks!
I look forward to other ideas on alternative forms of punishment in this thread?
