Jenn Barretta Pro player... REALLY?

I wouldn't mind putting a sneaky few bob on Jester myself, if anyone would like to prove Cleary right. Sounds like a tidy propositon to me, even without knowing his skill level. I could even stretch to 500 quid instead of dollars if you like, and roll it over as many times as you like too, as long as we can agree the details of the challenge and some suitable 3rd party escrow to hold the money. I mean, how hard can it be to hit the end rail?

Boro Nut

You'd be surprised;)

Female pros = $1,000 yearly after expenses = Annual income reported from playing pool
Male pros = $5,000 yearly after expenses = Annual income reported from playing pool

Not being a "pro" but having a "pro" quality game + holding a real career/job = priceless

This is an ever so small problem with this site and one of the great things about pool at the same time.

The trouble is that since the game is not a full blown mainstream sport, many of the professional players are personal friends of regular posters on this site. While that's a pretty cool thing on the one hand, on the other hand, any conversation about any of these known pros is going to upset someone that actually knows them and this makes candid conversation about any of them nearly impossible.

So what if the original poster isn't all that impressed with Jennifer Barreta's game? I'll have to say, I've only watched her a handful of times but in those few times that I've watched her play, I thought she appeared to be a significant step down from the top female pros. Is that something that can be mentioned on here without wearing a flame retardant suit?

If someone came on a golf forum and mentioned that they thought Phil Mickelson was stinking up Augusta do you think they would be challenging the poster to gamble with him? Let’s not get ridiculous here.

I understand the whole concept of "if you don't have something nice to say" and all that BUT players that classify themselves as pros should have thick enough skin to expect their games to be criticized -- understanding that sometimes the criticism may even be misguided. Their friends should understand this too.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Is it really worthy of a whole thread trying to insult her game though? I don't think so. Dude can get played is all I'm saying. Seems like a sweet deal if he's in nyc.

I know she has fans out there but come on. I'm watching her play at TS against a very low level player and she is struggling. The level of play is mid level league play at best. She is supposed to be a PRO?? I would be ashamed to call myself a pro with a straight face if I were her. This match is taking so long for the lack of ability. I know she is nice on the eyes for the guys and maybe some of the girls but that don't make you a PRO player. She came third in a womens tourney recently but the major players were not there and the ones that were ate her lunch. What makes a lady player a pro these days??

I watched that match and I have seen Jennifer play better. I gave her full marks for grinding it out and showing grace under the pressure of not having your A game and being on the stream table. She is a class act and you could learn something from her in that regard.

I would like to know why you thought it was necessary to comment at all let alone come on a forum like this and be so disrespectful to someone that has more than paid their dues in this sport.

.

But would anyone be as stupid as saying that Mickelson is NOT a pro because he was "stinking up Augusta"? Of course not, and therein lies the problem. He could have started the thread with a little tact, but that would be hard to do when he has no class either. Just another rambling troll that does the old "hit post and run".

I don't like Jen as much as I used to after she announced her engagement.

I saw a pic of him and was thinking, what's he got that I don't.

Then I realized, His around around her, that's what he has.

I've always liked Jen. I agree that she is a much better player than her contemporaries that are noticed for other attributes as well.

Plus, I didn't mind her acting in that web series some time ago.

++1 Nice post
One of silliest things about this forum is some posters challenging you to pool match when you disagree or have an argument with them . That is dumb cos obviously does not settle the argument. If you visit those martial arts forums, there are big arguments debates about which is better martial arts, who is best fighter etc . And it can get expletive laden but almost never do you see them challenging another to a fight. Martial arts are supposed to have more brawn than brains compare to pool players but obviously the reverse is true . Muahahaha

You can get played too.

All I know is, she's on the winner's side at the Turning Stone... where are all you talkers at?

She is a pro, I'm sick of all you pretentious assholes. I'm a dealer for Schon, Jacoby, Viking, and Pechauer. If you want a quote let me know.

If you aren't impressed then stop watching. I've seen her play maybe twice, and both times I've had to stop watching. Not because of her directly, its just the women's game in general. God it's slow paced. The women's game isn't upto the men's standard, so they don't have to play like the top guys to be classed as a pro. A pro is simply someone who earns the majority of their income from it. That's how its classified in all other sport. Then there is the skill level involved...usually a pro is well, quite good at what they do. There are very few women players that I would consider quite good. Most are upto a decent "county level" as we would say here, there I guess you can call it a good "state level" player. More regional good than nationwide or worldwide.

If she wants to call herself a pro let it be. She's not asking anyone to call her a pro.

No peanut gallery response? Your the same guy that appreciates a sharp inlay over a floating point. If it isn't full splice it's not. One cue builder I want to own -r-
