Arent you the best if you win a race to 100?

OMG zzzzzzz this nonsense again

plain and simply NO

is alex the best since he beat svb 100 and frost long ahead one pocket race??
or is darren the best since he has won more in 7 years of playing the game than the majority of others?

Yes, absolutely.

... Each time they stop playing to go to sleep, it is considered 1 set. Next day they play it like a new set. So effectively race to 100 is like 3 sets of races to 30 to 35
That is like them playing some long sets in some tourney over 3 days. eg. the Bartram v Henessee race to 80 is actually 2 sets of race to 40 cos they play a race to 40 each day
... :D

Using other sports as example, "sets" are played in Tennis where in Australia Open (currently in process), one must win 3 out of 5 sets to win (for men).

Race to 100 or 80 is more similar to golf where the result from every day counts toward combined total. It's very possible that one can win two "sets" (or days) but still lose the match if you really stunk it up just one day as the result that count is combined efforts from all three days.

So, no it's not like playing 3 sets, IMHO.

The very simple answer is no ,, if secretariat had to race a mule up a 5 mile mountin he would lose by miles ,, tournament plsyers condition themselves to the conditions they are playing in ,,obviously that's not racesc to 100 unless you SVB

A great players skill should be like dish TV ,, on demand. ,

Isnt a short race player more like a one trick pony . as long as we are using horse analogies? I tend to agree with those that think a long race encompasses every aspect of pool. You cant just catch a gear run 4 racks keep breaking and control the table, A long match will showcase every shot and skill. I apologise for bringing up this topic to those that already know everything.

Except he hasn't.

SVB wins longer races. Doesnt that mean he posesses the most skill?

To your specific question... No.

But, IMO, he does possess the most skill. He's shown the highest gear of anyone I've ever seen , but that was in portions of a long race. The same race, he didn't look so hot.

But, I think he possesses the most skill. He has the best 10-ball and bar box 8-ball break. He is one of if not the best with a full cue to jump. I don't think I can say there is anyone in a match I've seen better at a short jump cue. His safety and kicking game rivals the Filipinos. His power game is easily the best I've seen ( those of you who don't understand the power game in pool can please bow out).

He has major one pocket wins, oodles of 9-ball, 10-ball, 8- ball...

That's what shows me he "possesses the most skill." He's definitely no one trick pony.

Freddie <~~~ none of these

Its 99 to 99 ... the tension in the air is palpable, player A is preparing to break ...

He rears back ... smashes the balls to hell and back, shit flying in every direction, the5 ball crashes into the 7 ball which then hits dead center off the side pocket point, caroms into the 3 ball which kicks into the 9 ball sending it rattling into the jaws of the corner pocket, hanging there until the last ball rolling ... the 4 ball touches it and the 9 drops into the pocket.

In the words of "my cousin vinny's girlfriend lisa" ... now I ask you, who gives a rat's ass who's better? 9 ball .......

how bout race to 120

In the Hong Kong Color of Money match, Earl and Efren raced to 120....

As we all know, Earl was ahead by 17 games near the end, but Efren came back and won by a few games........that doesn't change my opinion that Earl is probably the greatest 9-ball player in history.....even if I don't like his antics..

The more games you play vs someone will show who is the better player. As long as the amount of games in one sitting isn't too extreme where fatigue is a factor.

Does that make all marathon runners better runners than sustain bolt?
