Sharpest Return Points

Who makes blanks with the sharpest return points. I prefer wrapless cues and don't care for squared off return points.

Not a fan

The last few Herceks I saw with no wrap had the bottoms of the points covered up with inlays.

There was a Tasc for sale recently with the same thing. Not a fan at all of using dots to cover the return points. Almost seems like a flaw in a cue to me personally. It seems rather obvious what the reasoning is.

For truly sharp return points the only two I know that actually make these
blanks are Dmitry Komarov and Scott Whisler.
Others have hinted at being able to make them but choose not to do it.

It definitely was on that cue. I'm bothered that Hercek does it when his cues sell for $Stupid

Lovely cues but not as perfect as the collectors claim, and that made me sad. One of my favorite high end builders that I have mused at buying.

Ed makes a great FS blank with long forward points and sharp returns....not to mention they hit pretty well also.

Ed makes one of the nicest fullsplice constructions, but his return points (the bottom ones from the inside veneer) are not sharp at all.

Their is a reason for this.
Joel could make the return points ultra sharp but chooses not to because he wants the bond down there to be a wedge and super strong. If they were sharp, the bond wouldn't be near as stable.
Make sense?

It doesn't much matter for Joel's cues anyway as he rarely builds cues that show the bottom of the points.
What's under his wrap is built for strength and stability, not for beauty.

These are the return points on a John Nemic cue. Any body have any better examples than this? And this is the way all new Nemics looks.

Well, zero is zero. We get our forearms down to zero and are finishing the blades needed to get out prongs down to zero.

Nothing stronger than a perfect fit in woodworking. When we hammer them together we can't separate the two pieces.
