Ivory ban: Are you afraid to offend people with your ivory cues?

If I had a cue made with ivory in it, I would use it to break dom_poppa's fingers so we would get a break from his bullshit threads.

The slaughter of an elephant would totally be worth getting rid of this douche bag.

It is time for you to step away and take a break from the computer.

You are too emotionally invested in me.

Little smarter than that

I can counter....

So you believe this because some cue maker told you. Remember, he is in the business of making cues and of course he doesn't want ivory prices to sky rocket.

This train of thought is immoral compared to those who want to save an elephant because you and him are looking to save a buck (1$).

No disrespect to TW, but do you really think I would not do further research before I changed a opinion I held so strongly. I suggest you do the same. If ivory was completely illegal and only traded on the black market, I don't think TW would be selling it in cues.

I would like to mention that wild boar tusks/teeth are ivory. They are overrunning the country and need to be controlled. There is an endless supply of ivory right there. And as long as there is an animal running around on a hoof - I will have ivory in my cues...

Surely you don't think ivory from a wild boar is exotic compared to an elephant on your cue, do you?

Which one of us Terry?

I was referring to Dominic Poopala, BB. Not you. I probably would have missed you.

A Welcome Back song for Dominique.

Sorry that it is in French, Dominique. I couldn't find the Troll version.

If a Boar Tusk is Ivory, it is as exotic as Elephant Ivory, Narwal, or Walrus Tusk.

Does it matter that a Diamond came from Africa or Alaska. It's a Diamond.

I really don't care if it is exotic. Is that what you are hung up on? Are you really that stupid? Never mind - you already proved yourself to be that dumb. I don't care where the ivory comes from. It doesn't have anything to do with being exotic. That is where your liberal leaning, jump on the bandwagon for a cause mind took you. You see - it's the weight of the ivory and the specific hardness and density. I wouldn't care if it came off a field mouse. Is that animal lacking in exotic nature enough for you? It's probably not as big a problem as you think anyway. The new trend of low deflection cues uses lighter materials that are man made. Shooting with ivory takes much more judgement and calculation than most new players are willing to deal with. Maybe us traditional players that use ivory are in more likely to fade out than the elephants... But I doubt you would care as much about us. Your type cares more about animal rights than human rights these days.

Why don't you address my points? As far as TW is concerned, all he did was present factual information. I've got 50 bucks says you didn't even read it. Right?? Of course you can't appear to be too ignorant, as I am sure you "did" read it. We all know you "didn't" read it. How do I know that? I can tell by this post you just made that you are clueless.

Why would he care if Ivory skyrockets? That will just drive up cue value as a whole. New and used - that have Ivory installed.

PETA is mostly run by rich women that need a good f... to straighten them out. Don't even get me started on PETA. They cost me money. I wish they had an open hunting season on PETA bit.... I'd buy an M-60 machine gun. Johnnyt

Did they knock your action with the UPS man?

Just like PETA activists spray painting the fur coats of celebrities, are you guys afraid to offend other pool players? What if they damaged your cues?

Do you feel ashamed?

Are you ever afraid that a huge rouge bull elephant will skewer you with its tusks?

I don't think I could use an ivory cue on principle. Now that I have an idea of where the money goes, I choose not to participate. No ivory for me.

You know it matters to you where it came from.

Gee, I always felt that the ivory from the wooly mammoth was much more exotic. It's available for the right price and has a certain snob appeal for those who flaunt custom cues as a measure of their stature.

Plus, they are already dead, extinct as it were. Which brings up the question, how the hell are they all dead, if not killed by greedy people shooting them or global warming them to death?

Al Gore, care to respond?

Did you know that the current trend of state imposed regulations based on this push to ban ivory to save the elephants, also bans Mammoth Ivory?

It's proof positive that this has very little to do with ivory and a lot more to do with personal property rights.

Dom-poppa. Your last comment - you know you care where it came from. This shows that you are an antagonist and a troll. You don't know me. How can you presume to know what I care about? I assure you that if ivory came from a plant source - or a nuisance animal like wild hogs - and I could get it cheaper or free - I would be happier. Next you will be accusing me of raping baby elephants before ripping their immature tusks out by hand.
Wow - that sounded ridiculous... just like your last comment to me.

What really concerns me, Dom, is that people use cues made out of WOOD. Oh, the inhumanity! How can you use a cue that's made of WOOD? Haven't you read anything by Kersenbrock? Don't you know that trees scream every time they are turned down for shafts? They commiserate with each other when they are alone in the cue maker's shop at night. They have children. They have no racial issues and purpleheart lives in harmony with maple. If it weren't for those damned cue makers and pool players, they would have a Woodtopia!

Anyone that really cares, could use fiberglass or the ever popular aluminum for their sticks.

Wood is everywhere, elephants are not. Please keep your priorities straight...

I'm curious what you mean that it has "a lot more to do with personal property rights." It sounds like some kind of conspiracy theory about - well, I'm not really sure because it doesn't make any sense. The UN turning America into a socialist state? Or something?

I believe a couple of states have started to add mammoth ivory into the existing bans because they believed that many dealers were getting around the ban by claiming the elephant ivory was antique. Agree or disagree with that new law, that seems like a better explanation than "the real goal is to take away personal property rights."
