Pictures of World Caliber Players When They Were Young

This thread is going really great, showing some great pictures from the "early years"......
Pictures rarely seen by all of us.

We need more! If you have some, please take the time to post....

Will Prout

I wish I had some to show, Will, but unfortunately I don't.
Thank you just the same for creating this thread though,
it's an enjoyable one.

The other half of the "Miami Vice" pro players. Tommy Brown @ the Sands Reno circa early 1990s. Many here would not know Tommy. He passed away 5 years ago in his late 40s from cancer. He had a glass eye for pretty much his entire adult life, from the same illness that eventually took his life. Would run a 100+ balls regularly in his visits to the Miami pool rooms in the 1980s and together with John Ditoro were the two top players in Miami for a long time. Tommy was a helluva player and was an incredible shotmaker. One of his pet shots was firing a ball into the side from a very shallow angle where the pocket size was barely the size of the ball. He was an exciting player to watch and the youth pool crowd in Miami were like his pool groupies. My girlfriend back then dumped me to date him. I still liked him regardless

Great photos everyone! Here's a couple of press photos of Jean Balukas from the early 70s that were framed by me. The one at the foot of the stairs was taken when she was going to school, which is my favorite:

Dave

Nice one of Jean. Since I raised two daughters, I can only too well appreciate her ''look''. Those gals had it tough in middle and early HS in those days & ta'day. I can see the ''mean'' the determination look of a NY gal. A woman making her way, like Billie Jean King.

I'm loving this thread, thanks for starting it Will, and those that are keeping it going. I had purchased a dvd from Mike Haines & Bill Porter of Pool Photography, but am hesitant to post any of the pictures because they are not mine. Maybe someone can contact Bill Porter to post some of his favorites, there are some good ones.

Dave, I used many of their photos in Pool Wars, with their permission of course.

Thats an intermediate Varner. He was a strange looking bird when he was young like.
