Chohan vs smith updates

Hey CB! Hope you and your wife are doing better! Patti and I are going to the SBE in Valley Forge in a few weeks. Hopefully I can get her to travel with me out to CA next August!

Really hard to believe that Tony came back out of the gate immediately and is this strong. Stepped up against a great player who has been in, seemingly, constant action the past year and played this solid. Good on ya Tony/

Tony is a beast, can't wait to see him play again. Would like to see him and Danny straight up though.

Well he has only been practicing for a couple weeks after being away from the game for 5 years.

Give him some time and he will take on anyone again!

Bad Match Up

First of let me say thank you to Ray for a great match to watch and sweet! Danny showed alot of heart and played very well, some of the shots he executed were amazing. Tony also played well and his jacked up firing balls in the hole were just unreal time after time. The problem for Danny was he was giving weight to someone who I believe he would have a hard time beating straight up. I know he plays well but when you loose a 7 ahead match it wasnt luck that beat you and no reason to play another the same way. I realize they changed the ball on the break, however still not enough. It looked closer than it actually was because of Danny's superb shot making, but he was getting out moved and out shot most of the match. I repeat you cannot give weight to a player who shoots just as good as you and out moves you constantly.

He's actually been practicing for years while he was in....and another steak horse has been "shredded" well played T...

Sounds like they are playing again today with the game adjusted to 9/8. Anyone in the MI area have any updates? Thanks

Tony will be giving Danny 9-8 before it's all over!

Jay..According to Ray's post on 1P.org, they are going again !.. The game is changing, but not THAT radically !..I liked
Tony getting 10/8, but I may switch horses..If they play anywhere close to even, I like Danny !..(open for small, friendly sweat bet ;))

They are about to match up again! Tony getting 9/8 this time and if he makes a ball on the break he gets one more shot after that....I am home in Texas for my daughters birthday and won't be able to film this set. Hopefully someone will post some updates. My flight back to Detroit arrives tomorrow evening. If it's still going I will post some details...Ray

I'll take Tony right now!

I guess you saved some money because I would have bet you too.

Jay -

How close is Tony playing to his old "top speed"?

Secondly, if he isn't at top speed how long do you think it will take to get back to 100%?

I interviewed Kim Davenport years ago, and he said that he could take time off from pool for weeks and then come back and get back to 100% very quickly. He said he thought that was one of his greatest assets is to be able to get back in stroke so quickly.

Thanks,

Ken

I won't speak for Jay, but I watched quite a bit of the first two matches against Danny and Tony's banking was incredible. I would say at 100%. His moving and ball pocketing were at maybe 85%-90%.

From what I saw I thought Danny would have a tough time playing him even. And by the sound of how the last match ended up, I would say that holds true.

Give him a month or two and there is not going to be many that want to pay him even 1P. And his bank game looks to be as strong as anyone right now. Would love to see him match up with someone playing banks... Hall, Thorpe, Murphy, etc.

Tony at 100% will be one of the best One Pocket players in the U.S., right up there with Shane. He's more mature now and has better self control, essential to be on top. Just watch what happens in the next year with him. Look out world!

Jay,

Are you trying to start a kerfuffle? You didn't mention Scott...haha

speaking of best US one pocket players...who are the top 10?

I'm sure I am forgetting a few...
Richie
Gentile
Frost
Smith
Chohan
Schmidt
Shane
Joyner
Hall
Jones
Chip
Gray

Daulton and Gabe would be on list, but they are essentially inactive.

IMO if you take Shane and Frost off the list, there is little more than an 8-7 gap between any players on the list.
