Sorry to see that Waleed Majid had to drop out. Talented, fearless shooter that was fun to watch.
Heard he got sick and had to return to Qatar.
 
Waleed dropped out for health reasons but I don't think he's back in Qatar yet, judging from his facebook posts.
 
Glad to see that Josh Roberts made it into the tournament. I know that he's still looking to add Mosconi Cup points (although it doesn't look like he will make it this year).
 
People asking about Justin Hall should be hitting him up, not anyone associated with the Open. Lol. He had 6 months to get his own money together, or find a backer, or simply sign up. Its all on him that he's not there.

This is what i'm thinking, some of those names should of been in already not waiting at the door. There are guys who seem to be located far away that have to drop everything and come to this on short notice, the guys who live here should of been in you have a full year to save up to go to the event not to mention everyone know you've won money gambling.

Varner won it in 1989 and 1990 and Efren won in 1994 .
That was a long time ago in pool years.
The tournament costs a lot of money just to go and spend 9 or 10 days.
It was brutal for me as a spectator in great health to just be there 10 days watching and sweating matches, imagine how hard it is for the players, under constant pressure.
I commend Efren and Nick for stepping up and saying they could not make it for whatever their reasons, in time for someone else to have a chance to play in it.
 
Efren has stated almost a month ago he was book to do a beer commercial with Francisco Bustamante. Nick also had a conflict which was announced a few weeks ago.
 
bizarre efren was just here or is currently in the U.S right now. He was playing 1p with Daniel(POV-Pool) at Hard Times just last week.
 
There should be a rule that Pros are given priority over amateurs
The pros in the wait list should replace the amateurs in the 128
:D

at $1000 entry that is one brave "AMATEUR" and if the "PRO" is so good and "ROBBING" then why not offer double to the "AMATEUR" to buy his slot in the open???

it cuts both ways!!!

I would favor anybody who gets their entry in on time.
.....OPEN is the key word here....IMO

Can you imagine getting a call from Barry...cancel your plans...
