The Cold Case of Biloxi Mike Surber's Murder

?

Did nothing come of the fingerprint evidence from when this guy drove the car back to the pool hall?

I have no ideal, but if his cues were took (stolen) their just like a finger print and if their located it would give the police somewhere to start. Turn this cold case back into a live case and hunt down this low life.

Maybe right afterwards at that time it may have been a good lead but with this much time passed the cues could have changed hands may times with the people not even knowing they were stolen.

I've been quiet for 2 years........

If they really have a hot lead on the guy why give him a heads up by posting that?

Just a thought.

Waiting for DNA test to come back on one guy. Took a long time to get this far. Might not even be the guy but he sure looks like him......

Who looks like him?
What'd we miss...?

When they find him I hope they hanged that sucker from the highest tree!

Not only was Mike Surber a well-liked pool player. He was an all around good guy AND A VERY STREET-WISE GUY!
I don't know how that guy convinced Mike to give him a ride.

I guess anyone can make a mistake. I'm sorry it cost Mike his life.

I saw this guy while on the road.........

He was playing on a 9 footer all by himself. I was playing in a weekly tournament.
I couldn't believe what I saw. this looked a lot like the guy.

Same type of shirt, long hair but not in a ponytail and a nose that is pretty distinct.

I called JoeyA and told him I thought this was the guy. He asked me if the guy was drinking Bud Light. I went into the bar and asked the waitress. Sure enough Bud light.

I called JoeyA back and he asked me to look and see if the guy shoots with his legs straight, not bent. Sure enough.

I was trying to get a picture of this guy with my phone and he started picking up the balls to check them out. The picture that I did get was kind of from the back right side. Couldn't see his face.

I went outside to get the plate number when he got in the car. I didn't feel comfortable because I was sure the guy knew he had drew my attention bigtime.

He got in a Toyoto Prius, Silver. I had the police on the phone and I read the plate number to them.

2 hours later they sent out a squad car and the officer didn't even know why he was coming out.

I'm sure they thought I was a clown because the 2 kids at the counter didn't think this customer of theirs could be a killer and the lady that ran the poolhall came out as the officer got there and made her displeasure with me accusing one of her customers as a maybe killer.

The videos of this guy were always from up above and when this guy would get down on a shot I got the same angle it was really bone chilling, the resemblance.

I called the police the next day and they wouldn't talk to me. I persisted and finally got very limited info.

I called Captain Jackson and told him of the events.

He had trouble working with the local police in the town that I was in.

I called Steve Surber and told him that this might be the guy and I also talked to JoeyA some more about it. I also talked to Ray Hansen back then and I told both of them that they wanted me to keep it quiet on the internet so I did.

I was in Beloit about 2 months ago and I saw Mike Dunklin, a good friend of mine that would go to this pool hall and play from time to time. he said the guy used to stop in every week but since he never saw the guy again. He might have come in but not when Mike was there.

So I got on the phone with Captain Jackson again and he informed me that they finally got a DNA sample from this guy. Turns out that there was a cig but in Mikes car ash tray and they had the DNA from that. He informed me that it takes 3 to 4 months for the results.

It could be the killers and maybe not.

This has been coming about for 2 years.

That's all I know.

There is a lot more that is not being posted yet. Trust me I want to post everything but we need to wait until Captain Jackson gives the green light.

We wanted to share that there is a development to create more interest because even if the we gain the identity of the person on the poster, it doesn't mean he is caught, We need everyone to keep sharing the poster please and keep looking out for this man.

Did you see what cue he was playing with? I know it's a long shot but criminals can do stupid things. For the record, I don't think the perp in this case is stupid he just lacks morals.

Mike Surber's murder has become a cold case since November of 2009. Here is a brief summary of what happened:

The death of 54-year-old Michael Surber was ruled a homicide Sunday, Ocean Springs Police Lt. John Flowers said.

"From the beginning we thought there were suspicious circumstances," Flowers said. "After viewing the autopsy results we now think there was foul play."

Flowers declined to comment about how Surber died or a possible motive for the slaying, citing the ongoing investigation.

The lieutenant did say detectives are looking for a person of interest who was captured on surveillance video with Surber the last time he was seen alive.

Surber is shown on the video leaving Skeeter's Billiards in Gulfport Tuesday night with an unidentified man, Flowers said.

Officers found Surber's body inside his home on Linda Drive at 6:20 p.m. Thursday after Gulfport Councilman Ricky Dombrowski, owner of Skeeter's, and other friends went to Surber's home in Ocean Springs to check on him.

"Mr. Surber's car had been in the parking lot for two days without moving," Flowers said.

Once there, Dombrowski said they found the house still boarded in preparation for Tropical Storm Ida. They managed to open a window and look inside. That's when they saw their friend lying on the floor, and called police, Dombrowski said.

Surber lived alone and was an avid pool player, Flowers said.

Flowers said anyone with information should call the Ocean Springs Police Department at 228-875-2211.

It is believed that Mike was killed with a knife, if my reading of the news articles since that time is correct. Mike Surber was well loved by his family and friends. He worked in the casinios most of his entire life and was an avid pool player. Please help us find the person who murdered this kind soul.

Ray Hansen (aka "Big Truck" on AzBilliards) has created a brand-new Facebook page dedicated to finding the murderer of Mike Surber called "Catch a Killer."

For those on Facebook, please share this link on your Facebook page: Catch a Killer.

I had dedicated a domain name and website immediately after this senseless murder happened, but, unfortunately, when it came time to renew this last year, the renewal notices went into my spam or else I never received them, so the website was taken down, which was my fault for not paying closer attention to the due dates of when the renewals needed to be made. :(

Bravo to Ray (Big Truck) for keeping this mission to find this murderer going. Facebook's viewership just might reach more people than the website did. Please, again, share the "Catch a Killer" Facebook page on your own Facebook page. Let's give justice to Biloxi Mike. This cold case needs to be closed with the arrest of the murderer. He's still out here, roaming the countryside.

Here is a photo of the creep who police suggest is the suspect.

Hopefully it will not take 3-4 months for the results to come back.
