Real Pool Reality Show crowdfunding

Welcome to AzBilliards, the pool forum where it's more fun to tag-team and flame than it is to talk about pool.

You forgot to mention that it's also the pool forum where, when someone disagrees with your ideas and opinions, they're just haters, bullies, trolls, etc..

And yes. That comment is directed at you just as much as it is at Jim. Have an idea or a comment that people like and openly praise, then they are geniuses and AZ is an awesome place.

Have a sh*tty idea (like crowdfunding a reality show about pool that will be just like the OTHER reality show about pool) and people actually tell you as much... you're a hater, a troll, a bully, an a$$, etc.. Grow up.

Your contributions make AzBilliards what it is today. Keep up the good work! Picking scabs and flaming contributes nothing to the forum, but it makes you feel good, doesn't it?

Some of that is going on, but at the same time legitimate criticisms of the idea are either ignored or dismissed as "hate."

I'm not flaming anything or anyone. If you or Jim have a great idea, I'll say "Great idea JAM/Jim!"
If you're idea sucks, I'll tell you that as well. A woman of your years should at least be mature enough to understand that you can't get all whiny and infantile every time someone disagrees with you. As well, you should ALSO be able to say "Well, if they ALL think it sucks, maybe they're not 'haters'. Maybe they're not 'nits'. Maybe... just maybe... it just plain sucks."

Instead, you act like a 5 year old. You're one of many who who are of the mindset that "At least Jim is doing SOMETHING for pool so he should be praised!" And that no negative feedback should EVER be expressed.

Those are utterly ridiculous notions. If you have a GOOD idea, people will support you. If you have a dumb idea, why should you also deserve the same praise or support?!?! And if Jim is going to come to an online community and ask anyone and everyone to help finance his idea, he has to accept that people might NOT like it. Grow up.

Exactly. If you're going to ask the crowd to fund you, you are opening yourself up to criticism of the idea. And in this case, the idea just isn't that good.

Imagine if Jim went to a bank to ask for a loan and they turned him down based on EVERYTHING that has been mentioned in this thread. How asinine would it be if he just stoop up and said "You're all a bunch of haters!" and walked out?!?!

Nice semantics of twisting people's words around to suit your needs. Maybe it's time for you to grow up instead of judging other people on threads. I've done nothing to warrant your wrath on this thread, but yet you pop up as if you have something important to say. Move on and attack another member for no reason.

Even worse though -- this isn't a loan. This is straight charity to an idea that has no merit. Hell I would give to Michael Wong before I have to this project - did I just say that

Like the idea or not, he is trying to do something for pool, pool players and not just himself or one single person.

Call it what you want, donation, charity, purchasing a service/product, whatever.

My decision process is different for donations vs. services/products.

I am more likely to donate to something like this vs. funding a single player to enter a tournament.

And telling Jim to go back to selling overpriced cases is just plain obnoxiously rude.

If an idea has some legs, I would certainly throw in more than $10 to help it get started, just to see pool do well. I'd love to see pool in a much better state and there are without a doubt ways to make that possible, this just isn't one of those ways.

What's sad is if someone is honest, they're a hater. If a woman asks me "does this make me look fat", the polite thing to say is no, even if it does. Short of that, I'm a very honest person and know a good idea a mile away. If you'd rather somebody pat you on the back and say "seems like a great idea, I wish I could help" rather than tell you the truth, you internet isn't for you.

Solution

I'm selling video streams, not asking for charity. That hasn't sunk in yet.

I have a good idea. This show is going to be about a lot of things in pool. We are going to have someone show a trick shot for people who want to have some fun when they are playing with their friends. We will have comments from experts from other parts of the country. I want to get a cue maker to talk about his cues and what to look for when you are buying a custom cue.

So I think that I would like to have an opinion section. I would like Watchez and the other guys to send me a video of your opinions of this show, of professional players, or anything that you would like to have people know about what you think. That way it will be out in the open. You won't be able to hide behind stupid names and everyone will know what you think.

Since you stand behind your opinions, and you aren't just haters, I would think that this would be a perfect opportunity for you to shine. I won't call it the hater's forum, so as not to label you.

Cleary should be especially good at this because he makes pretty good videos. I've seen them.

So, all I need is a very short video, Iphone is good enough, of your opinions. Send them to realpool16@gmail.com Please say your name and State where you live in the video so everyone can see who you are.

This will be very interesting.

Jim

Banks want two years of financials for business loans. If you find one that doesn't, let me know.

Oh please. Jim started a thread to solicit money and feedback. And even if he didn't want the feedback, then he should have never asked for money. But Jim didn't get the opinions he was hoping for. He wanted "Awesome! This is the best idea since pool was invented. Here's $50k!" What he got was a wake-up call to reality. And that reality is, this idea isn't a good idea. This is The Hustlers with the promise that the pool is real. But the audience doesn't really care if it's real. They don't care if the gambling is real or the shots are setup, etc.. It isn't the pool that'll make the show. It's the people. So... where's the good idea in all of this?!?!

It was YOU who read the thread and chimed in to once again proclaim that AZ is just too negative these days. We're all nits and trolls and bullies, etc.. Once again, you're free to disagree with anyone and everyone you wish and it's fair game. But if someone says something YOU don't like, AZ is a hellhole. This is typical JAM-behavior. You and Jim seem to think we're all being bullies when in fact, we're being realists. But you can't see that. So instead, your profound contributions to this thread have been:

Welcome to AzBilliards, the pool forum where it's more fun to tag-team and flame than it is to talk about pool.

And...

Your contributions make AzBilliards what it is today. Keep up the good work! Picking scabs and flaming contributes nothing to the forum, but it makes you feel good, doesn't it?

But that's right. You're the sweet, innocent little victim here, aren't you? Of course you are. You ALWAYS are.

What is he doing for pool and players? He is trying to sell videos and the money goes to a handpicked group of players and himself. I think he should have not went the crowdfunding way and just sold Ppv for his stream if it ever goes ahead.

Hold on a second here. Does Jim need money up front? From what I have seen he has the cameras etc, the players are playing with their own money. So its really just Jim's time and making a deal with the players for residuals right?? Or am I way off here? Maybe Jim can clear that up.

Jim,

You might want to edit the first post and make that piece clear and maybe include the video you have attached on the crowdfunding page. There is nothing in the first post that indicates that you are selling streams, you only have a link to crowdfund, which as you can see turns people off. Maybe if you indicated that you are pre-selling streams through the crowdfunding portal people might understand better. The only way to understand that is to read through this entire thread and find the posts where you indicate that, or follow your link to the crowdfund page (which if people do not like crowdfund they are not going to do). I also suggest editing your first post because if someone is new to the thread, they not likely to read the entire thread. They will likely read the first few posts, see the crowdfunding link and if they don't like that idea they won't even bother clicking it or reading more about it. They will move on.

Best of luck!

Hey guys!
My name is Brian and I found Jim's offer above to be a very interesting one. Very interesting indeed. And, in fact, I would LOVE to make a video to share with Jim that captures my opinion about his proposed project. As he said above, an iPhone video would suffice. But I feel the quality of the video on my present iPhone just isn't that great so, I'll be purchasing a NEW iPhone 6S PLUS to help take this video to the next level.

The problem is, I don't have the funds to cover the $749 charge. So I'm going to launch a kickstarter campaign so that all of you will get to see this amazing video.

For every $10 donation, I'll make a video of me saying "Thank you (insert your name here)" and will send it directly to YOUR phone.

For every $20 donation, I'll make the same video, but while dancing to music that will be playing from my old iPhone. I will even record the video via SnapChat so I can add captions and cool filters.

For every $50 donation, I'll do the same thanks and same dance (again, with music playing from my old, inferior-camera'd iPhone) and will do so wearing less clothing (or more if you don't want to see my chubby ass in a state of enhanced exposure).

For every $100 donation, I'll do all of the above AND will FaceTime you on your birthday to include another song and dance AND some more opinions that you'll all LOVE to hear (unless your Jim. In that case, the video will just say "Your pool-based reality show is a genius idea Jim").

For a full $749 donation, I'll use the phone to do all of the above, as well as to text or email your for your address and your culinary likes. Then I will input your address into Apple Maps so that I can be guided to your front door via a series of wrong turns and traffic-laden streets. From there, I will enter said likes into my OpenTable app (for iOS of course) to select an eatery local to you that caters to your specific food likes (up to "$$" on Open Table's pricing scale only). I will also use said phone to play music while we eat. Nothing romantic (I'm married people). Just ambient music to lighten the mood a bit. And once we're done, we can use the exceptional camera on this new iPhone 6S PLUS to make more opinion videos on a number of other topics (religion, politics, sports, daily events) and send to Jim's email so he will have the hours and hours of video feedback he desires.

Anyway, if you're interested, feel free to hit me up via PM for payment. Thanks!!!
