Predator REVO Limited Edition

I continue to love my Revo shaft, and play with it every day. Yesterday, teaching a lesson at Felt, in Denver, my student had flown in from Tokyo to spend the day with me. Wouldn't you know, he had the Predator Revo with the P3 butt. He purchased it through Seybert's, and loves it too.

I just wanted to update this thread in regards to predator and some questions surrounding the Revo.

After a phone call to predator and an in-depth talk with a sales rep, I posted some detailed information that was passed along.

Here is a link to my post:

Not sure if you follow Darren on face book, but it looks like he just go he's revo back from predator and he's going to take the plunge..Some of his comments are interesting..

Thank you for the heads up!

Yes, very interesting. Looks like they custom made a Revo for Darren in weight adjustment and tip diameter 12.4mm

Why has your revo shaft been sent back numerous times? Are you playing the stock cue off the shelf other then tip change? What weight

So basically all custom compared to a off shelf model

Most off shelf cues comes in 19oz unless you tell them different before shipping imo and most companies stick shaft is 12.75 unless told otherwise

But the revo is standard I believe at 12.75mm

Daniel Gilmore
Revo is 12.9mm

Mine latest prototype I test all equipment for predator cues .. Latest is 12.4

A guy I know got one and the p3 racer just so he could have a black and white cue. I was only able to take like 3 shots with it before he had to go. Definitely sounds weird but feels like any other shaft but definitely one stiff shaft. I am considering on getting one, for the people who like to spend over 1k on a predator cue I really don't see the point in buying anything else other than this.

So I've been playing with mine every day for about a month or so and I come to like it more each day though I haven't committed fully to the switch just yet,
but the fact is I just play better with it.

A couple of problems I'm having with the shaft are more me than anything else. First, I have one shaft. For years I've been carrying two shafts, the thought
of having just one is really a foreign concept to me, so I include a Z3 more as a security blanket than anything else.

Another thing is I'm really a private person and taking this thing out at a pool hall can be an experience, it's an attention grabber, everyone wants to try it out
then they get mad when I say, "I think Meghan Trainor said it best - NO".

I'm also kind of a purest, I mean pool cues have always been made from wood and when someone pulls out a graphite cue or even a Cuetec, or God forbid -
an aluminum cue, well, I always sort of rolled my eyes at these. Playing with something that's not made of wood, in front of people, it feels kind of silly.

I think if I had played football in the early days of American Football I would have had a real problem switching from the Single Wing to the Traditional Pro Set.
Playing baseball as a kid and in High School and College I always thought aluminum bats were the stupidest things ever. As an athlete, in the sports I played,
I played at a reasonably high level, in basic gear with hard work and training. Playing with this shaft almost feels like cheating, even when I lose, and if I do lose,
boy o boy, talk about feeling stupid. Losing? Me? With my new "sinister looking, black, super-duper, special technology, NASA material, carbon fiber, moon-rock"
new shaft? What? Me? Lose? Never! Oh..... it still happens.

As I described it the other day I likened it to a Point and Shoot camera vs. a traditional SLR. With a regular camera you look, you focus, adjust, set your flash,
when you're ready you take a picture, if you've done everything right, you get a clear photo. With a point and shoot you point, and shoot, if you've pointed at the
right thing you get the photo you want. This shaft is sorta like that, you point and shoot, there isn't much adjustment. I like it, but it's removed (for me) much of
the thought that goes into a shot. I noticed almost immediately (for me) that returning to a wood shaft is a much more difficult adjustment, but maybe that's just me.
Anyways, I do like it, and more and more each day, but I don't love it.... yet.
But at the present price I'm sure I'll learn to love it.

About to pull the trigger on it now. Just deciding wrap or wrapless.

I'll be surprised if this shaft or another company's equivalents are not dominate in the pro game in a few years. I was that impressed with the little time I played with this shaft. I even made several balls with it which is hard to believe but true!

If you read his comments on Facebook, he does like this shaft, but he also says he sent some Revos back - they had either too much or too little deflection for him, balance wasn't right, etc. It seems clear that he is getting some kind of customization or tuning that the general public is not able to get (at least not yet).

I've got the wrapless and just love it. But I was used to wrapless, I had the white P3 limited edition, wrapless.

To me, the wrap is kinda anoying when my hand has to be exactly where the wrap ends and the wrapless part of the butt starts. So I prefer a wrapless butt so my hand always feels the same

Been at the checkout page for a while now. Can't decide on color either. I like the look with the wrap better but I've seen those luxe wraps chip and peel. So leaning towards wrapless. However, both of these wrapless look kinda ugly. Leaning towards the curly maple atm, was the grey earlier. :(:(:(

I like the gray. Feels more like a cue designed to fit. No hard contrast from butt to shaft!

I'd go grey wrapless if I were getting one. Agree that it just looks more cohesive.

I love the leather wrap, it gives me a better feel/grip, does not slide on my fingers when I need to pull off a firm stroke. Look at Shane and Earl, both of them have tape where the wrap is to give them a better grip. If you have never tried a cue with a leather wrap I'm sure you will love it. It's nothing like the traditional wrap, much better.

Not sure if I prefer the wrap or wrapless but the curly maple does look better in person. Love the shaft, having used every ob and predator shaft out there, this is just out of this world. I really can't see myself going back to anything else. They need to make a thinner version of this shaft though.
