Should tournaments ban the use of ivory cues?

Note that he doesn't make his true Identity known, because then he would be accountable for all the pot stirring he does .

See, if I could play God for an hr I would take these groups of people and in no particular order,,,( politically correct people, all members of isis, all members of KKK, and all memebers of blm) and what I would do is put them all on the same space shuttle and move them to a planet of there choice and leave them there!

Then, this planet would a beautiful and peaceful place with an extremely less amount of idiots, phsycopaths, and racist people!

Bottom line, I can't stand idiots!

Sorry, rant over!

At this point and time Ivory isn't illegal to own and proving the ivory isn't pre ban ivory will be tough to prove.

None of this is going to happen at a tournament.
The op is taking straight out his :kma:

He has a hard on for custom cues, custom cue makers , and the sellers in the WFS.
He has been spewing this troll crap for years .

No wonder people shoot the piano players....
...them keys are ivory.

Good pt, God. I mean, good God, pt. Can't you be serious for once? Poppa is trying to make a point here and is failing miserably. The least we can do is hardly pay any attention to him at all.
After what I've read from him I am sorely tempted to whip out my trusty Barlow and cut those diamonds right out of the butt sleeve of my cue.

How did this thread get so long?

I read the post and decided not to respond....and then it turns into such a long thread.

Ban ivory in tournaments? How? Who can identify the ivory at a tournament? IMHO it is a ridiculous notion.

OK...I just helped perpetuate the thread.....:confused::wink::grin-square::rolleyes:

How about Uranus? That's where children come from, you know.

We may have a problem with NASA. They've suspended the shuttle flights.
How about we just stick a Roman candle up there ass and light it. If they don't make it to Uranus at least we tried.

The potential for tournaments banning ivory cues is a REAL possibility. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. Its up to the tournament director. Also I think it's a real possibility that cues sold at Trade Shows and Tournaments may also face scrutiny as well. In our Politically Correct World, nothing is sacred. Cue sticks are small potatoes compared to jewelry, statues and carvings. The real question is how to prove your ivory cue was manufactured from the pre-ban era? That is no easy task. And, who wants to have to prove it over and over when officials confront you about your ivory laden cue?

As a concealed weapons permit holder....I will shoot you if you come near my teeth.

I let you decide if its your knee cap or bridge hand.

Don't underestimate sponsors. Trade in your Ivory cues for one of their new models. I would be surprised if there was not a ban.

Hell fire people...elephant ivory is not the only ivory available. Ivory is beautiful and adds much to the overall asthetics of a cue that incorporates it. Walrus ivory is an acceptable substitute IMHO and as far as I know is not subject to regulation or restriction. If I am wrong about this I apologise, Express yourself makers....but do so with environmentally sound decisions.....my $.02

Well then, you probably shouldn't have anything white in your cue.

I highly doubt that most tournament directors know much about pool cues or ivory, heck it seems most players don't. So it could be difficult.

Do we need to create a new profession? Pool cue inspector? Require one at every event?

Anything is possible. I can't deny that.

Up to tournament directors? Could also be up to the "governing" bodies, like APA, BCA, etc....

Should we revoke the championships etc won with cues with ivory in them? Isn't that a real possibility as well?

Don't be so close minded. There is an ivory ban and these big manufacturers are going to stop production on ivory cues and they are sponsors.

There is going to be pressure to ban what is now deemed illegal contraband.
there is a ban on the commerce of illegal ivory. A cue with ivory in it is not contraband unless it is being sold. I can carry it across state lines and back, no issues. As long as I'm not selling it. And if I do decide to sell, as long as I have the proper paperwork saying it is pre-ban ivory, I can do so. Capice?

Also, some of the ivory substitues have gotten so good in recent years that without taking samples and testing them, it is very difficult to tell the difference between them and actual ivory.

Wouldn't it be a trip if it turns out that Ernie's cues have ivory substitutes in them instead of ivory?

I doubt they are substitutes but I can't tell. Some ivory are off-white and some are bright white.

I like the off-white look.

A real possibility in your dreams.

Where does the ban say it is illegal to own (much less play) with a cue that has ivory in it? Thousands and thousands of ivory ferruled cues out there...

Why is it so hard to believe?

Sponsored cue manufacturers will seize production of ivory cues to get you to buy a new cue from them.

You are underestimating the power of money here.
