I received a e-mail this morning from Eugene Komarov , Dymitry Komarov Passed June 11th , after a couple month being down with Lung Canser . I got a messsage from Dymitry in march saying he was going into Hospital . Nothing more till this morning . Eugene was following his fathers wishes , Sorry for our loss , I was proud to say he was my friend . I will miss conversing with him .

That's awful news. I dealt with Dmitry a few years ago, and it was a pleasure. He did what he said he would do and in a timely fashion.

Very sad news! I had done business with him a couple of times and it was always as pleasure. He will be missed!

Sad to hear this. Been a few cue makers over the last few years that have passed from Lung Cancer. I have no idea what Dymitry's situation was but its made me very leery about spraying clears and auto finishes. Prayers to his family.

My Memories

Jim Baxter In my E-mail he sent pictures of him and one of his sons beside a old Russian car they restored , told me about his buddy restoring a 1938 Buick , and of the seanery of a vacation they took , looked like they were coming off Chinook Pass into Yakima , a picture of his freinds house outside Omsk , it was a neet Log Cabin , his car a Toyota , outside his new shop , last winter , they had to open a wall with sledge hammers , something like a cinderblock building , also of a tree out side there what we would call a apartment building , how it bloomed in the spring , he had lived there a long time . Kinda funny how a person can get so attached to someone they never met . Very seldom was his wife mentioned , but he was married , I remember him talking about his birthday party , seems like there was some heavy drinking going on . Like a brother I never met . He was about 10 years younger than I , I will miss the messages comeing from him , I looked into how I could visit Omsk russia , I looked at a lot of videos in computor of Omsk , russia , its nothing like what our government has pictured Russia to be like . When I sent him wood or pins to build cues , I also sent new Levis , the levis available in Omsk were around $200. and made in Turkey , not the same as U.S. made , thats what he wanted . I sent hotRod magazines , catilogs of stuff not available over there , Miniature Diecast Harley , and he was so proud of his Hog . There Christmas and New Year were at different times than ours , so he dider twice . Funny In his vacation pictures , no matter where they were , always a Coke machine in the back ground . He sent me a lot of cues to sell for him , I wish I could have afforded to keep one . He built Beautiful cues , that shot pretty well also . Everyone should Google OMSK Russia , to see a beautiful city ,

Sorry I got carried away , , I'll miss my Russian Bud .

You are a good Man Jim. Thanks for the story and Sorry about Dymitry. I have acquaintances I have become friends with over the years but never met in person.

They used to call them 'Pen Pals' Now you can talk live face to face, send pics, meet Family sitting across the Globe if computer is set up.

Funny how you can have long time relationships like child hood buddies without ever shaking hands.

Best of rolls,

-Kat,
