Oscar Dominguez in UK tabloids, not good.

With what's going on in our society today with all the sexual predators being outed, this is just not a good time to be using terminology like this in a public arena. Like I said earlier, it was a poor choice of words that he inadvertently used on International television. An on-air apology by Jerry was called for and that should have been the end of it. The British tabloids like to play up the uncouth Americans when given an opportunity. Kind of like the National Enquirer does right here.

Jay, how can we keep trying to cope with the PC crowd....we’ll up feeling like a laboratory
rat wending it’s way through a maze.

If Osacr’s words are examined in the light of reason, they only dissed a rapist...implying
that he has a rough touch....and dissing Dennis humorously, which made Dennis laugh.

I got it and found it funny.

Touch in pool = control

So if I say you have the touch of a feather it would be a compliment!

If I say you have the touch of an ax murder! It is a not a compliment!

I believe that the comment was regarding his poor speed control on the previous shot!

Not that Hatch is literally a !!!!!!! Or any endorsement of rape.

That is why it is a big misunderstanding and taken out of context!

People need to friggin lighten up. We've gotten so far into a politically correct atmosphere that it's ridiculous.

The touch/finesse of a rapist. If you don't understand that as being a friendly jibe between friends then you have no sense of humor.

pt109 got balls!!!!

Nice to see you take such a principled stand and not fall for the damaging paradigm of political correctness.

I think I'll put maple syrup on my pancakes tomorrow.

That’s one way to put it. Another way to put it is that you’re held to a higher standard of conduct when you’re on-air.

I get a the principle of wanting to be able to say whatever you like without snowflakes crying over it, but that’s not how the world works when you’re on television. And it’s not all about offending or not offending people even though the can be a factor.

The producers of the event also expect a certain standard for the sake of appeal. They want a broader audience than Jerry Springer viewers. They don’t want locker room language on air because it’ll not appeal to a segment of their audience they’d like to appeal to.

Oscar knew their expectations when he signed into the event. And that’s why violating those expectations is a mistake. Especially given his own desires to be allowed to participate in the future. And he apologized. And he’s most likely forgiven.

Society is only like that because we let it become and be like that. More people need to grow some bollocks and say there was nothing wrong with it and it doesn't need an apology. The commentators should've just let it go and not commented on it. They made it a bigger deal than it was. Don't apologize for someone else, it isn't your place.

The world doesn’t work the way you wish it does. You can assert your displeasure with that all you want. But we have no influence on the fact that language language loses appeal for some people. Loss of appeal = loss of money for Matchroom. That’s why it was addressed. This incident is secondary to this battle of liberty versus decency that everyone is debating. This is purely fiscal.

Yep. It's a no brainer. I thought it was funny, but if someone can't see that there is no way advertisers would ever want to advertise on a show with this type of thing being said, then I don't know what to tell you.

There will be no big money in pool if pool players think they can talk like that on TV.

The people that think Oscar was out of line...type in the exact words that he said...
...and explain

Do you have actual interest in considering and understanding in an honest way a point of view?

or are you fishing for an opportunity to slap down a response that garners a bunch of "me too"s ....

Of course you are right.
I have heard this commit a bunch of times and every time I heard it used was in the context of poor cue ball control.
Is it off color? YES
Is it Politically correct? NO
It was unfortunate that Oscar made that commit on a live mic. because people will jump on their high horse and blow it way of proportion.
Oscar did not mean anything by that commit other then Dennis made a mistake on his cue ball control.
If people on here were honest with themselves and us most guys would admit that if they were sitting around the poolroom with hitting balls, butchered a shot
and heard that commit they would be like what??? and then start laughing their asses off.

There is a movie called "call me by your name" that is up for several awards this year.

It's about an adult gay guy's sexual affair with a 17 year old boy. Rolling stone called it the most romantic movie of the year.

Please liberal hypocrites, give me a personal break. Move over and give yourselves some talking room.

The whole idea that pool is gonna become some kind of white shoe country club game belies its’ historical legacy.

The PC thing has gone too far and Oscar has nothing to apologize for.

If pool could garner 10% of the appeal and audience of Jerry Springer the networks would be tripping over each other to broadcast it. Pool would finally be on it's way.

You people are out of control with your multiple standards. And yes by you people I do mean ESPN included.

JC

I have a set. It wasn’t funny. I have a great sense of humour. But rape in any context - there’s nothing funny about it. Anyone that thinks it is...needs to vacate the human race, let alone the pool hall.

What Oscar said was of color but funny as hell

Now this is the type of Rape joke that is not funny

See the difference?

Pool didn’t expect Oscar to apologize. Matchroom Sports did. Neither Pool, Matchroom nor the Mosconi Cup are garnering 10% of the appeal of Springer now. Are you suggesting Barry Hearn would make more money by putting together a less couth presentation? I’m not sure that’s what his market research is concluding.

Sorry but you need to keep up with the times. Now days a woman can catch her nut and be ready for immediate sleep and if dude won't stop that very second it's violent rape. No means no for christ sakes!

It's a girly man world and getting more pansy every day.

Da Fuque you talking about, man!
