Dechaine just chopped up Busty, but he's not even considered for MC. Score was 13-7 in 10 ball. Union Station Billiards live stream FB match. Mike missed maybe 2 balls the whole set. I find it crazy that Dechaine, and also Bergman, are both not even considered for MC. Those two guys are solidly in the 2/3 spot in the USA behind Shane. They are head and shoulders above any other USA player. I think they could each spot the rest of the USA pros the 7 or 8 in 10 ball.

How can the USA be competitive if we don't even have our best players in the running?

Because pool like everything in this country is political.

Don't know if either player even wants to bother because what is in it for the players?

Who else has Mike beat in the last two years and where does he play other then around his area?

Busty has a flash back now and then but hes a fraction of what he was in his prime and in his prime he would nail mike to the cross

Huge fan of Busty and his style.....

I doubt he is anywhere near as hungry as he used to be,
And age hits us all sooner or later.......

Mike also had a real job last time I heard. Maybe this keeps him reined in a bit more now. Bergman might be snubbing the M-cup due to how much it costs to be on the team vs the small payday.

Mike’s character is pretty well documented. I think he’s a turd. The other American pros may also be turds, but I haven’t seen it yet with my own eyes. Go team USA!

All you guys mouthing off about Mike grab you another American player other than Shane and Berg and make the drive up to see him.
I'm expecting crickets, but some of you cant help but run that yapper.
Dont forget to take cash with you since you're so smart.

Is there a bit of a difference in a "turd" and a true "piece of chit"? (examples please)

Most on here would never question his talent. I think most of us here know that MD is a monster player. I also think a lot of us here think MD has a turd-like attitude.

We here don't have to like a player because of his/her talents. You can enjoy the theatrics/bad sportsmanship from the likes of Dechaine/Strickland/Shaw, etc. all you like...but please, don't ask us to.

Personally, I hold players who are well-mannered and have good sportsmanship (Souquet, Reyes, Lombardo, etc.) to be someone I would hold in high regard over a player who is a better player, but is a true ass-hat.

No fanboy of MD here...and that's okay whether you agree or not.

Look Mike's problems have been well documented. I've met the man and he's now worse then most highly competitive players of any sport/game. SVB is a great guy and ambassador of the game. When I played him and got a little ahead I saw the fire. Nobody likes to lose. Nobody world class likes to lose. Mike has matured as a person. Lets park the baggage.

At the risk of repeating myself. There is a reason 99.9347210023% of pros stay off the forum.

For starters, each player is guaranteed $10,0000. The players have the opportunity to represent their country which I think is cool. Learn from some of the best coaches. Experience international competition with some of the best players. But the real value is the exposure the players get for playing for the Mosconi Cup team. An astute player, will take this exposure and turn into sponsorship opportunities, lessons, exhibitions, etc, etc, etc.

But again, what's in it for the players?

You can enjoy him all you want. I’ve seen enough out of him to trash him for eternity. I respect his game, but that’s about it.

I don't brother. I just think we need to give the boy some air and let him work it out.

Mike had a couple of chances in the MC and sh-t all over himself. He just couldn't handle the pressure. Maybe he's matured beyond that now but he will have to pay his dues to get another chance.

So why are the best USA players not trying to get on the team?
A few of the contenders are unproven young players Mike or Bergman can give big spots to.
There's no way the team USA we are going to field wins over Europe...so anybody on the team should prepare for another ass kicking.

If you want to win pick
SVB
Strickland
Dechaine
Bergman
Thorpe or Deuel

Then we would have a real shot.

That combo (excluding Earl) lost 11-7 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Mosconi_Cup#Teams
