Wonky elbow

We need a picture of you in your shooting address.
How tall are you ?
Measure your bridge length .
10" is plenty.

I tried posting it from my phone and it shot me down. I will try again now. If that doesn't work, i will do it later tonight.

5' 11"

I unfortunately can't measure my exact bridge length as i am at work, but 10" sounds right.

Hopefully this goes through. Unfortunately you can't see my bridge hand, but i wasn't so focused on getting that in the shot at the time.

Looks like your bridge length is too long.
The joint face of your cue was too far out from your chin.
You hold your cue even farther than Corey Deuel .
He's about your height.

Joey:

This was from 12/24/09, (Christmas Eve, FGS) and I was in there shooting straight in's, trying to get an attaboy from Ramin.

The last couple of shots sounded so sweet.

I'm pleased to say I have dropped about 50 pounds since, most of it doing keto-carnivore the last six months. Down to 198 today.

So my grip hand is alost always on the tail end of the cue with no room to go back any further, which kind of throws the balance of the cue off...from what i have read at least.

I understand any change is going to feel different, as i said, but i want to make the RIGHT change. I'm not 100% sure which route i should take at this time and am looking for suggestions on that, as Patrick suggested something that helped me before but didn't quite fix the problem. I don't know if i have an above average bridge length, but the bridge length i prefer to be at leaves me with no more cue left to grab and a grip hand forward of my elbow. I am also not particularly tall, 5'11 with wide-ish shoulders, which i believe can have an impact.

Something's not right. At 5'11 you shouldn't have to be gripping the cue way at the back end. Look around at players who are taller than you and see where they are gripping the cue and try to figure out what the difference is. Can your bridge length be THAT long??

I really never thought of it as that long, to be honest. Here's two action shots from a month ago that i took from a video of a break and run with my buddy in partners. Does my bridge look crazy long? I can tell i have the same grip hand position problem in one of these pics but my bridge doesn't seem outrageously long to me, but i could be wrong.

I have to take a pic and then take a screenshot of the pic, to add it to post as an 'attachment'.

I thought the same...but it could possibly be so, if the body is oriented to the strike point in an unconventional manner.

Practice more and don't be so critical....

I like this answer. Our subconscious brain is the best computer there is to figure out how to do things better. Try playing an 8-10 hour session with a good sparring partner and you'll be surprised what you might come up with. When you start to get a little tired and feel a bit weary is when your subconscious brain starts to kick into overdrive. You will find yourself making very slight changes in how you grip your cue, your stance and your stroke. Not all at once of course, but every once in a while you will do something slightly different than you'd done it before and it will just feel better. These very slight incremental changes are what will make you a better player. Your problem with accuracy on your draw shots being only one thing you can improve upon. Good luck Derek.

The easiest fix is to have someone look at your setup on the address to the cue ball.
Then let him/her move your grip hand so that your forearm is perpendicular to the floor/slate .
Have a blue painters' tape around right in front of your grip hand from there.
Now learn to hold your cue behind the blue tape.
Do not play games .
Shoot hundreds of straight in shots daily from the foot spot marker to the corner pockets .
Use donut ring enforcers to mark where the balls need to be. Where your bridge need to be, and where your tip should end up after stroking.
Shoot stop shots by the hundreds.

If you play games before you master the right setup, you're just going back to your old setup.

Anywhere that sells office supplies. They are punched hole reinforcements for 3-ring (USA)or 2-hole (Euro) binders.

Freddie <~~~ everyone needs reinforcing

the pic on the L), does suggest you could move closer to the ball, to me. I also dont think bridge looks too long.

ASSuming it is not a picture taken after you that the ball:o

Also, your grip hand isnt what I would refer to as abnormally far back on the cue.
