Harris Cues Meltdown on Eddie Wheat Proportions

What other md cuemakers farm out work?

It is well documented here, just search the threads for the answer. I don't know about present makers, but past makers of the highest order had others making cues for them.

I was never liked on this site from day one but I didn't let it bother me I took on cue making back in early 2000 as my primary job to feed my family pay my bills and pay taxes on the product that I sell. All I can say to those who View who believe Robert Harris built all my cues you really need to pull the wool back over and up above your eyes because if you continue to follow me on Facebook "sly custom cues you will see pretty daily of the cues that I am working on Q's in progress cue parts that are built by me for my cues and so on this is my last post here on azbilliards. Attention!! mr. Wilson or any moderators that may read this may I ask you please to delete my azbilliards account this is my last post on this site.
I would like to thank the ones that have supported me over the years on this site I also met a lot of very nice people on this site but I no longer want to be a part of the AZ community please delete my account thanks.

It might have been better to not have responded at all. Somehow your responses lent some credibility to his accusations.

No one said he built all of your cues. Did he build any for you?

Exactly: Good thing he asked for his account to be deleted before he could expound on that ? And the $64 question is did he tell his customers he didn't build the cues he sold them?

Oh uh, his attorney might be looking for me now. All I can say is "bring it". I'm not hard to find.

With this post you've probably lost anyone who may have been supporting you beforehand.

Asking your AZB account to be deleted is a way to avoid answering the question. “I had my account deleted so I don’t have to respond.”

Where’s Harris? Is he on this site? I hope he chimes in.

But a tv

I have no horse in that race and have no idea if that is the case, but certainly cue makers know each other and it is not infrequent that such things have been done.

Frequently we know about it. "Collaborations". Sometimes we don't.

Are you buying a brand or are you buying art?

If a signature is on it, then that is one thing. A trademark? A stamp? A decal? That can certainly be another matter.

There are several cue makers that have given another the right to reproduce their logo for instance. Frequently this is upon their retirement, but not always.

People do occasionally get their balls in an uproar about such matters. Is it a George? A Gus? A Spain? Searing? The Mona Lisa? Generally not. IMHO it takes a long time for the top artists to make their name, sometimes not even until after they die really.

Harris is ticked about flippers and dealers it seems? Hey, so was Dale Perry. That's what led him to Ebay.

Harris apparently blew a cork from what I have read. I have been through 7 hurricanes, I understand. I stay off Facebook so all I have is this thread.

I don't know who made what, who paid for what, or anything of the sort and I will not pretend to.

He is a good cue maker from what I know. I have been referred to him several times and never took advantage of it. Maybe I should have. I dunno.

Insured? Uninsured? Under-insured? Incorrectly insured? I have no idea. But the man is in a seriously bad way apparently. People died. People lost everything.

Why Facebook has to overflow onto AZB I'll never understand.

If a cue maker fraudulently puts a mark or a name on a cue, or produces a cue presented as an original by another maker that he has no right to do then that's a serious matter, even possibly a crime. Anything else is just business.

I've said enough I guess. I don't know if I really have a point except that the whole situation presented here frustrates me.

I don't wish anything bad on anybody.

I hope Harris, Murrell, and any others that got hit hard, cue maker or otherwise, recover.

.

But a TV, it was probably made by one of two companies, regardless the label on the front.

I know for a fact that a lot of cuemakers have other people working in their shops that don't get credit for making the cue. Its common practice. Been going on for years and years.... For example look up who Mike Wheeler worked for.... Does that mean that all of those custom cues that Mike made while he was working for someone else be considered Mike Wheeler cues?? They sure have someone else's names on them.

I think this is a bit different. Its one thing to have an apprentice working at your shop, under your guidance. This just sounds like someone outsourced work for a profit.

I think more of Mottey/White and Scruggs/Frey. As far as I know customers always knew there was a second person behind these names.

Either way, 2 more cuemakers I'll never deal with. Both showed how they handle themselves in public.

That would be a production therefore a production cue.

Wow I didn’t know you can do this. Harris obviously built these cues because he wouldn’t know the names of the customers if he didn’t.

I wanted to invest in a lathe to mess with cue making and sell it for a fortune.

I’m just going to go the route of assembling and design. I just need to come up with a company name.

Does anyone do cue repairs? I may need help with that.

WHEN did Joss have anything to do with Longoni? IIRC every cue they've ever made came out of Italy.

When?

I don't know the years exactly.

They appear to be "gold letter" era Joss cues. So I am guessing mid to late 1980's?

One or two have been posted here on AZB and there was one recently on Ebay.

Here is the one on Ebay. If you click on the pick you'll find there are still some nice close-up pics posted.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-vinta...vip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2381387.m43663.l44720

That cue has a black pin which I know was used in 1991, so they could be that late as well.

You can see the cue is clearly marked as "Longoni by Joss" and is pretty clearly a Joss design.

Here is a Longoni by Joss jump cue that was for sale on AZB:
