Frank was a very strong player at any game in his day. His best 2 games being 1-pocket and banks, although he played a mean game of 9-ball, as famously documented in Jay's first book. Now in his 70s, to say he could hang with those guys running 130's+ on a Diamond table, is simply not realistic, in my opinion. Even now, I'd still pick Cool Cat Ray to take down Frank in 14.1, and Ray is 10+ years older.
This is just magnificent and the way the players warm up to straight pool at this event is something to behold.
The qualifying rounds bring both competition and camaraderie among the players, and they often sweat each others runs in both a friendly and supportive manner.
The atmosphere in the straight pool challenge is priceless.
No. That was the intention but Chad from Diamond was hearing complaints about table 1 and came up and looked under the head of the table and said "oops". Somehow a 4 1/8 table got put there. I said before how they seemed smaller than before. They are. What size pockets are on the two Straight Pool Challenge tables. Thanks.
Edit: just read the entire thread. RKC says 4.5”.
Any current list of the top 8 runs?
Are the pockets 4.5"?
One commentator on the stream during Neil's run said 4", but I think he's mistaken.
Is today the last day for qualifiers?
Maybe 14.1 will make a comeback for Action matches!!!

This seems quite odd considering it's generating more interest from players and fans this year than any year prior, and the standard of play is the highest it has ever been.Frankly, from what I heard at the event this year from well placed sources, there is reason to wonder whether the 14.1 Challenge will return in future years.
