I don’t know why a long race is the only way to find out. Why is it better than, say, a series of short races, which is mostly how pool players are linked to one another.
The Fargorating tells us how she plays against other pool players without respect to gender. Why isn’t that better than any specific match?
Fargo Rate, once someone is established, is like a really long 200 game set. But better than that, it's against a whole host of other players with different strengths. The rating is accurate. Sure Donny has small chance to win, and he could beat the odds for this one match. Or maybe since Chen beat him last time, he has practiced 12 hours a day, and he actually got significantly better. But I doubt it.
This isn’t one match it’s 3 different races. The first time they played was one match that’s why you can’t tell anything by it. I don’t care who wins. I just think it will be interesting to see how these sets go as they will be far more telling than the first time they played.
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities that he's been grinding practice hours out in preparation of this rematch and comes in a better player than his Fargo rate suggests,,

In the grand scheme of things it's one match.
It wont prove or disprove anything. Fact is, she's the favorite whether she wins or loses. I'm glad all you guys think the man wins and a woman couldnt possibly beat a man.

I said I don’t care who wins and I’ve never said she couldn’t win because she is a woman. I was simply saying this match will be more telling in that it will tell if the fargorate is accurate for both men and women. No matter who wins it will not definitely prove one way or another about fargorate but it will give more insight. The only way to definitely prove one way or the other will take a lot more than this match. It will take multiple matches over a longer time. However it will be interesting to see how this one goes.
There have been thousands of matches played between the sexes already, this will not change Fargorate one bit.
Fargo doesnt care what sex you are - it's not really a difficult concept. It wouldnt matter if Monkeys were playing, it would work out the same.
There is no more insight to be gained - and it will never change peoples bias about sex no matter how many matches are played.

I’m not biased I’m just curious to see how it turns out. I don’t watch the women play much but the last match I watched the 2 ladies playing both had over 650 fargorate and in a race to 9 neither ran out a single time on their first trip to the table. I know lots of 650 players and they run out fairly often. Maybe they just had a bad day.
So you’re saying Donny has 6% chance to win? Someone lay me 10:1 and I’ll try a buck or two on the big guy.
Massive difference in a 650 and a 783 fargorate. Again, a match or 2 doesnt mean crap - J Barretta is around 650 I think and I've seen her run out plenty.....it might take 20 minutes, but it happens. Lol

Says 7% he wins 2-1 and 5% 2-0. F it, 12% is still huge underdog. I’ll take 9:1 odds.
What does 12% translate to for a money line? 7:1?

My point was a 650 player should run out more than they did They both had plenty of opportunities. Also they were playing on gold crowns, not the toughest table to run out on.
I know for a fact she wont catch a game with some players at her speed or just above in 10 ball,, she is only getting this game because its 9 ball on the spot break box rules that favor her ,

The point is that if they are "at her speed", then their break is roughly equivalent. If they are "at her speed", but they shoot straighter, then she will likely have a better break.
So, all in all, if they play "at or near" her speed, then they play at or near her speed, period. There is absolutely no validity to the idea that some dude is gonna crop up out of nowhere with the same Fargorate but a much better break and crush her. If he's the same Fargorate and breaks much better than her, then his position play/shotmaking will be crap, and it will only be his break that allows him to stay close with high Fargorate competitors.
