Dean Threads

If the point around these parts is to just harass, then by all means keep the thread going because that’s
all it accomplishes and it only unites people into 3 camps......The Lynch Mob, I Don’t Care Group & Leave
It Be Camp. Two of those categories are going to endlessly battle & that will only entice vitriolic exchanges
and the atmosphere on the Forum turns into a dumpster fire. And just what does that accomplish?

Someone needs to assume control over this before it worsens further than it’s already become. If anyone is
inclined to continue discussing this topic, take it to the non pool related forum where even the most aberrant
opinions are permissibly expressed. Mike is simply help ensure a sense of order and balance on the Forum.

Yeah, Nick got bounced out of the big Scruggs group on Facebook for his baseless accusations and slander

So wait, Nick doesn't want people buying fake Scruggs, but buying Jackpots, lol

Anyone know why he was calling that Scruggs a fake, at least with the Jackpots the info has came to light.

Back on topic. The original threads were productive. As they progressed, they came down to bickering and insults. They came down to belligerent dialog with limited participation. There's a time to move on. It's up to the moderator to decide when a thread should be frozen. That's their job. I am in favor of freezing, definitely against deleting unless there are compelling legal/moral reasons.

When a poster asks me to remove their thread, I remove their thread.

Mike

How do posters also get other people's posts deleted? Signatures?

Quotes should remain to show what members really said, not disappear into the ether

tap...tap...tap..
Finally a sensible post on this non topic.:bow-down::bow-down::bow-down:

Original thread is still around in which black balled did some detective work and got Dean to admit Potter wasn't building the cues but "friends who asked not to be identified" were building them.

https://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=486702&highlight=jackpot&page=2

It reasonable conclusion would be it wasn't Schmelke who didn't want to be identified but instead it was our friend Dean who didn't want to identify Schmelke as the builder of the $500 cues.

I'd say if Dean walked away from this with no complaints he is should change his username from Deanoc to Lucky.

I agree 100% that threads should be closed to additional comments and not deleted.

If you post on here, you better be OK with what you posted.

That said, we've been through this before with Mike and he has his reasons for choosing to do what he does with his baby.

Bottom line: if you/ I/ he/ she/ it can't accept how the forum operates, dont use it. I can live with that,

Not sure I can agree with your position.

while there was a lot of obstinate dialog, some highly relevant information was uncovered.

Good points.

An option admin can set using vBulletin if they choose, is to allow editing for punctuation only.
Poster has x number of minutes to edit their post and after that, it is set in virtual stone. No edit, no delete.

In vBulletin, if you remove or hide a user, any posts they made are likewise removed or hidden. Any quotes will remain but the link (little arrow icon) is not displayed as there is nowhere to reference the hyperlink to.

A mod can edit others posts, which means a quote can be removed. This option is used when a topic is too sensitive or too offensive to be allowed to remain.

Depending on the mods sometimes entire posts can be sent into a private forum you will neither see, nor have access to. Think of like a new user being unable to see, "The Action Room" until they satisfy the moderators condition, in Mike's case I believe it is 50 posts.
