What is this show called with these guys chatting pool business?

And is it normal for the MC players to still not be decided a month before? I feel like they were chosen well before in past years

i think the recent series of big tournaments is the reason for the late selections. usually the tournaments have been more spread out over the year.

WPA drug testing isn't new. europe had a player pulled some years ago. to stay clear of pot or booze for a day or two isn't that big of an ask for an elite sportsman imo

I'm involved in a fair amount of drug testing. THC needs more than a day or two...

Sorry but I don't think we NEED billy. People talking like that is why he acts the way he does thinking we need him. Maybe if Mc was banks but it's not. I have seen very few wins on rotation for billy. I can think of 5 who are more deserving. MD, Jr, sm,od,jh. And maybe even t Rex. Billy just needs to grow up imo.

pretty sure there's a threshold they go by, same as WADA. you can have some concentration of THC (or alcohol) in your blood, you don't have to be squeeky clean. but yes, in the case of THC it's probably a few more days.
 
50/50 on Tyler, but the Earl selection is unacceptable. On paper the Euro's should win by at least six points but as they say "that's why they play the game."

No way this is true. Billy isn't exactly Floyd Mayweather. He doesn't put butts in seats. His appearance doesn't help increase revenue for the promoters, so pool doesn't really need him (or most outside of the top 5-10 players). Where would Billy Thorpe be without pool though?

Ours are for construction projects. Not sure the level our clinic tests to, but I've seen people fail after a couple weeks off. The small amount of research I did on the subject showed that a person's body type and frequency of THC use are big factors. For the record, I think testing for weed is stupid in almost all circumstances.

Jimmy Reid was a amphetamines user and I think he's in the HOF.
He was a piece of work in my mind, coming from my family.
My father played for the Black Hawks.
His lifelong friend/roomate at Northwestern College, was HOF Otto Graham/Cleveland Browns.
He and my dad played $1 a hole golf their entire life.
Otto outlived my dad.
That's why my pic attached to my posts is in place.
Otto was a special man.

As little as pool needs Billy he will in the end need pool even less. Look at MD
 
THC tests 30 days in urine and up to 3 months in hair.

With current legalization efforts, THC may not be what sunk him.

I think the glory days of pool were in the gutter....

i think we can agree that smoking the day before doesn't affect your performance, in any sport. WPA follows WADA afaik, and i know that after that american female sprinter got banned in this latest summer olympics the question was raised of removing THC from the list.

Do we also know the level they are testing to? Would any trace amounts of THC disqualify him?

This is from a Washington Post story from last July. Evidently someone failed but I wasn't paying attention at the time. (All of this may be moot relative to the case at hand as no particular substance has been specified publicly, AFAIK.)

In 2013, WADA raised the threshold for a positive marijuana test from 15 nanograms per milliliter to 150, making it harder for athletes who used the drug to get ensnared by the positive test. But some marijuana advocates say even that is an imprecise standard.​
“The bottom line is those nanogram correlations don’t make any sense,” Sisley said. “Those are typically used only for driving safety, for impairment while driving. So to try to use these levels for elite athletes is absurd. It’s not based on any science. We don’t know if a certain nanogram level is going to give players some kind of competitive advantage.”​

If they drug tested pool players in the 70’s-80’s they might have had a few APA players on the Mcup at best…….
 
Pro snooker has been drug testing for a long time....early 80s, I drew the short straw twice.
I had zilch to worry about...but I insisted on being informed about their process....I didn’t want samples mixed.
...and they can fine tune those tests to amounts but also how long ago you’ve ingested.
