Tyler Styer on Team USA

If they drug tested pool players in the 70’s-80’s they might have had a few APA players on the Mcup at best…….
Yeah, but we are not in the eighties. I have watched drugs ruin dozens of families! I find it hopeful that professional sports hold young people to a higher standard.

Just because it use to be that way...

What about Shane Wolford? He is young talent!
Yup, Shane Wolford, Nathan Childress and Justin Martin should move on to the Mosconi captain's radar after their fine efforts at the International, but their resumes hardly merit consideration at this point.

Still, you're on the right track here, we need to go young to build for the future. That's why the Tyler Styer pick is a good one.

You got that right!
Being in the Olympic Speed skating time trials in my youth.....12 yrs, I was of the same mind/steroids.....when Eric Heiden won the shorts, the medium and the long distance races (we called em' milers) in outdoor speed skating.
Be like Bolt the great Jamaican runner, winning the short races, the middle distance and the longs.
That was right before drug testing, if I remember correctly....that it was put into effect.
Plus he was BUFF.

Tyler Steyer uses Center to Edge Aiming. For those of you who would like to know about this method please look up the facebook group dedicated to CTE Aiming and go to the website www.justcueit.com

This aiming system has generated a fair bit of discussion over the years but it's awesome and those of us who use it are very happy to see Tyler make the team again for the third time in four years.

Best to team USA for 2021 - play well - play hard.

i think we can agree that smoking the day before doesn't affect your performance, in any sport. WPA follows WADA afaik, and i know that after that american female sprinter got banned in this latest summer olympics the question was raised of removing THC from the list.
I don't think it mathers how long before the competition the drug was ingested, an athlete should not be taking banned substances in general because of ethical reasons and because it casts a doubt on their past performance like with Lance Armstrong. Mario He was actually tested randomly outside competition, he wasn't at a tournament or anything, in Austria they can do that with athletes.

in general i agree, but alcohol and cannabis are recreational drugs that are part of our culture. i know people who have gotten banned for both when having used them on days preceding a tournament, and i don't think that's the purpose of the drug testing. i would venture to guess that alcohol is the most common substance to give you the DQ in pool, and by a large margin. but i agree that you should be clean in competition and if that means staying off the rec. drug of choice for a few days, the risk/reward calculation for a serious pro pool player should be very easy.

There is ultimately no room for interpretation here. One may choose whatever area they will in trying to earn a living, but once they make the choice, they are bound by the rules that pertain. Billy signed the WPA contract of his own free will, knowing that drug testing what was part of the deal prior to signing, with every detail of the policy available for inspection. There was no blindside here, only a willful breach of the WPA contract. Billy rolled the dice hoping he would not get caught, and even if we all agree that he was somewhat unlucky to have been caught, he has still brought this upon himself, and I am sure that in his heart of hearts he knows this to be true.

I am disappointed, because I like and have often cheered for Billy, and I feel sad for Billy, but I wish him the best at navigating the next stage of his life both inside and outside of pool.
