Perhaps not, at this point in time, but as you pointed out, only 5 of the top 25 Fargo bothered to show up for this event. I suspect that, if so many top players declined to enter, then they believe it is too easy to get knocked out of the tournament in an early stage, thus decreasing their chances of making a profit, or even being able to cover their expenses.Do we have even close to enough data to judge accurately what the odds of a player winning a shootout are when they compete against someone whose Fargo is 100 points higher?
I retired at 52, u?Guy isn't getting a long term lease at that rate. Some people have a better understanding of business then others![]()
Colorado Springs....COWhere is that-Haiti?
Good for you! I wasn't inferring you were wrong in posting the Haiti question. Perhaps being retired you can work on your reading comprehension?I retired at 52, u?
Matchroom purchased the 9 ball rights (US Open 9 ball) from the Behrmans.Perhaps not, at this point in time, but as you pointed out, only 5 of the top 25 Fargo bothered to show up for this event. Obviously, the reason the pros play, is to make money. If the the top pros thought these events favored skill, and that they could turn a profit, why wouldn't they be there?

MR's experience with pool players and its development of the Cup speak for itself.
If MR had a tour with the same payouts, races to 11 dbl elim, single elim final 16 it also, would be a NO brainer, or better.
If Predator did that, game on!
But No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Instead of representing the Sport, they are now just representing another game.
Riding on the US Open words/letters/history/HOF ladder.
How many US Opens does the PGA have every year?
Except for the Matchroom dicks have scheduled on top.idk, they're not over-scheduling each other = win-win for the players

Yep but that doesn't seem to help create payouts, ANYWHERE NEAR the snooker players. Aren't those men millionaires?idk, they're not over-scheduling each other = win-win for the players

But "golden breaks" are "exciting".I saw that in the Reinhold/Gomez match this morning, Chris made a 4-10 combo then made the 10 on the break 3 straight times into the same pocket. Wins first set 4-0 in 5 minutes. Then they tapped the table for the second set so Roberto never had the chance to break the same way… Chris won the match in a shoot out.
Also Seaman had 4 or 5 ten on the breaks during his match with Hohmann yesterday.
I hope these events do well and have a real future, but I do wish they’d change a couple of rules so players have to play pool to win. It’s already short races, no need for “golden breaks”
No, not a no brainer, but with more possibilities. Both business models award points of equal value depending on low/med/and high dollar venues. like the 150-250-300K tiers. It is interesting that seems like a no-brainer to you
Predator doesn't have that. Nor does Matchroom. Nor does CSI. Nor does Cuetec. Nor does Kamui. Nor does Diamond. Nor does Simonis.
If fact despite the fact the door's been wide open for decades for any industry stakeholder or consortium of stakeholder's to do what you describe, every single one of them has--by inaction--declined. So I think it's fair to say creating the Island-Drive Tour isn't a no-brainer.
Put in a good word for me!I'm at Wisconsin, and I spoke to Karim and Ozzy and others yesterday. ...
No, Seaman had JUST 3 10s on the break against Hohmann. But I certainly agree with your position of wishing they were not a part of these events. To me, they are a disgusting way for professional players to win a game (any time, but especially in such short races). This is supposed to be professional 10-Ball, not Texas Express 9-Ball. And I certainly cannot buy the notion that winning with a 10-ball on the break is exciting or will attract more players or viewers. Has anyone ever heard someone say they entered, attended, or watched a pro pool event because of the possible excitement of seeing someone win a game on a break shot?I saw that in the Reinhold/Gomez match this morning, Chris made a 4-10 combo then made the 10 on the break 3 straight times into the same pocket.
