It's a species of ligma.
If you might be thinking of Lignum Vitae, then its not what my two cues are made with.
Lignum and Verawood are two of the most dense wood there are and my cues are very light.

Had a cue like that when first playing as a kid. Every time I was shooting at the money ball I would miss poorly,,very poorly I might add.

Oak? I'm only guessing that because of the fact that you said you could spell it with the previous guesses. It looks nothing like oak.
