Pool fads?

Target Pool. I bought this product for about $16 when I purchased my first table. Did not use it much. Sold it 25 years later for $85.

Accu-Stats had a video of pros playing Target Pool.
It looked like a good game for practicing position.

I’ll actually be surprised if non CF shafts aren’t considered a “fad” in about 10-20 more years.

Watched people say LD wood shafts were a gimmick and wouldn’t last. I expect this to be no different.

Another 20 years and seeing someone with a regular maple shaft will be like seeing a pay phone.
hahahahaaha.......................

Has anyone mentioned Bonus Ball? I mean for a few years that was the talk of the forum and the "player" pool world and poof... 💔
Probably belongs in a special category of "promotions that failed". I don't think many bought the special sets of balls. I have a set but I got it when BB first appeared many years before at a BCA trade show.

Inspired by another thread, I started thinking about wether I've seen any short term fads in pool (that very wildly popular for a short while, then disappeared)? I'm not talking about cue/equipment brands , more maybe special cue types, accessories etc. Truth is, I can't really think of any off the top of my head. Anyone remember some? Am I forgetting something obvious?
Traditional ball colors.
They were a fad for about 125 years

Agreed, but I can't help but wonder if that is why the brand no longer exists and the name was changed to Dynaspheres (which are absolutely great by the way)
The billiard company in Europe, Loontjens, wanted a ball in their product line-up. Instead of building a factory from scratch they contacted XingBing(maker of Cyclop) and made a deal for them to produce the Dynasphere line thus Cyclop as a brand went bye-bye. Has nothing to do with bad balls.

If the Dynasphere's are the same composition as Cyclop, that shows you how overpriced the Cyclop's were.

B
Cyclop offered lower priced balls in asia iirc but not in Europe/US.
But depending on the style you choose, Dynaspheres run from $100 for their classic Bronze set to nearly $400 for their high style sets with extra cue ball etc. Cyclop Hyperion with 3 extra money balls and extra cue ball was certainly high end like that and thus the premium price. What Cyclop seemed to be missing was the value line like Bronze.

Aprons used to be a thing way back in the day. When players dressed nicely.

I hope that day returns to pool.
I still have one that has the pool room logo, Starchers Billiards. It was a Gold Crown room so the apron saved your pants from getting that oxidation line on them
