This is why Fargorate Fails...

This is my point about fargorate. The data is obsolete, the player knew it and used it to his advantage win big in a handicapped tourney. This isn't about the player, it's a major flaw of fargorate.
That's what I'm trying to bring to everyone's attention.
I don't wanna know how you played 3 years ago, I wanna know how you play recently/now.
Fargorate's continuing dependence on old data is it's big flaw.
It gives us a "rating", but MANY times that rating is stale/lagging.
Players usually don't get much worse, but they can IMPROVE dramatically in the span of just months.
And until Mike understands this-- and implements a fix-- his fargorates are just MINIMUM skill level representations, and not really relevant.

So, as Mr. Page admitted, Kyle Hargis is AT LEAST a fargorate 628. Pretty vague, wouldn't you agree?
Correction* 627 Fargo.

I'm sure it is... That's because your calculations don't take into consideration how he performed against the top fargo guys-- it just looks at wins/losses. I saw his performance against the 640 guys lol.
And please explain how he is such an incredible outlier in a group of 78 guys, Mr. Statistics.
His Effective rate is so high because he beat his tuff highest rated players, a 642 and a 640, by a combined score of 18 to 3. That's when "he was shooting like SVB" btw, for all you doubters. Kyle "let up" a bit in his other matches knowing he was FAR superior to them.
But his closet match was still a dominant 9 to 5.
I am not sure I have seen someone's speed and playing info put on so much blast since California and Arizona's plan to bust Hard Times. :ROFLMAO:
He's a hustler.
Not anymore, thanks to you "outing" him.
He was a cat playing with it's food.
He is so underrated it's not even funny.
Many of my fellow 600-700 friends all saw the same thing.
Their, and my, biggest gripe with fargorate is the inability to see how he/players got his/their data, and how old it is.
The app gives no ability to see his match history, or most history for most players.
Kyle is around a 700 speed now, he ain't no 628.
I play at about Kyle's skill level- a tad under 700-- and I know a fraud when I see him.
This is a hard lesson to all the players who play in ridiculously high entry fee fargorated tourneys.
Watch out for the "ringer"

And, no, I didn't lose any money on this or any fargorate tourney, as some have wondered. But three honest friends of mine played in it and never will again.
Just wondering why you would knock the guys action so hard? So what if he's on the lemonade, trying to make a little cash?

He played at a high level, and yes the SPR is 776. Our best estimate of his level of performance in the tournament, though, is 709, not 776.

A high-dollar tournament like that is going to be attractive to people who believe their rating is running low whether they've done anything nefarious or not. I see no reason to think there are bad actors here. About 600 of his 900 or so games are more than 3 years old. I think the best guess is his rating was low and also his level of performance in the tournament was high, like a storm surge happening at high tide.
This makes the most sense. Could this player possibly sandbagged 300 games? Possibly?

When i started playing decades ago. I was rated in a local cash tournament as a 6 the lowest rating. I was probably playing at a higher level of an 8 and won the tournament.

A lot of playing growth could of happened within the times. Also getting good instruction for a few months can also raise the players game dramatically.

I just finished watching what I could of Kyle at the Mako event on YT. Honestly I don't see the play of a dominate player dismantling his opponents. Just a guy that is a decent potter (on a BB) and is 50/50 to get out of line if the shape requires any moderate level of CB movement.

I'm sure my opinion isn't valid and every misplay Kyle made was him sandbagging. I wish I was so good that I could slow roll rattle in the jaws like he apparently is doing.

Much ado, imo

Too high...?
No I would say I’m in the mid 600s but I have a job that requires meto work weekends and I’m also a full time single dad raising two boys. I don’t have time to compete in events that would make my rating established

Does Fargorate line up with Pat Flemings TPA reports?

Fargorate shows trends over time. TPA shows trends in performance for the day.

The argument simplifies to what is the estimated TPA based on a given Fargo player?

This quantitative distinction would define who is having a bad day versus who is being outplayed.

The reason my rating is so low is because I’m a banger. There was a tournament I tried to enter that was 615 and below and they told me I couldn’t play even though my rating was 589 so I’m trying to sandbag just in case they ever have another one of those tournaments then maybe I can play.

Go ahead and delete this reply, as I was already corrected. No need to perpetuate my incorrect statement for this tournament.

I have seen cases where the Fargo cal conveniently allows the local shortstops more than a few times

I have seen the caps that just happen to include somebody's buddies while excluding someone arguably a hair better. I couldn't play since I was two hairs better but truly wouldn't have if I could. I hate gimmicked events!
