According to me you are - but whadda I know?A harder tip has a more efficient hit. I'm not talking about the difference between hitting a shot hard with a soft tip.

And less contact time in which to deliver the energy.Hitting firm with a soft tip … is not very efficient compared to using a hard or medium hard tip, where there is less energy lost to tip deformation.
It’s not quite the same tip action, I’ll grant that, but I think it results in the same CB action, despite your maddeningly reasonable objections.So it's definitely not the same cb action when shooting firm with a soft tip vs shooting with a harder tip.
I think the spin effect (angle change off a rail) for a given tip offset is the same at any speed - it doesn't matter whether you make CB speed, stroke speed or neither the same. It's the tip offset.
@dr_dave
my tip recently broke so i’ve been shooting with a spare shaft the last couple days (same shaft, both ob1+). My shaft had a pooldawg8 milk dud, and the spare has a g2 soft. i’m having a hard time adjusting, it seems like the balls are throwing more when i use side spin. can you explain why this is happening or what might be the cause? i’m just curious. Thank you.
thanks, that was informative. However, i’m even more confused as to why or how the different tip is so difficult to adjust to.See the “Does tip hardness have an effect on CB deflection?” section at the bottom of the page here:

so perhaps the g2 soft is harder/denser than the milk dud, creating more CB squirt and giving me the illusion of more/less ball throw. That makes sense, thanks again.If your shaft/tip combo is creating a different amount of CB deflection, you need to adjust how you aim. This can take a little time to figure out over a wide range of shot speeds, distances, and type/amount of spin. The System for Aiming With Sidespin (SAWS) can help.

Edit: thinking about it more, i guess it would actually be the other way around, and that i was used to more/less squirt initially and now that it squirts less it cuts the ball differently. What a mind boggler.
thank youWow. #895 on the hit parade. Hey people, the bottom line after damn near 900 posts is: IT DOESN'T MATTER. Find a tip that feels/sounds/hits the way you like and go play. What differences that may/may not exist are generally at the micro level and not worth worrying about. Last few days i've hit with three different shafts and three different tips. Guess what: i played exactly the same way with all of them. Did they feel diff? Hell yes. Did i see ANY performance/spin/squirt diff? Not one bit. All this stuff makes for great discussions/arguments/psychosis but really is a non-starter when it come to playing the game. Oh, one last question: what's the best tip?![]()

I couldn't help myself. I had to ask the un-answerable once again.Triangle. in response to the best tip question![]()
