MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Is it just me or has Shane looked shaky on 2 different easy nine balls? He babied them and they missed center pocket as you would expect to see on such easy balls and rattled their way in. Like just a fraction away from choking type of strokes.

Here's a snapshot from the stands during the commercial break at 2-4 Filler vs SVB. As soon as the match resumed they even showed that little piece on air.
In the interval they had sort of a "dancing camera". First they were showing random viewers, but then directed the cam at Shaw. Next - Frazer.
Hope the guy grasping her by hand and waving severely is not Boyes...

Game 7

Shane drops the 1 in the side and has a cross-side bank look on the 2. He considers staying aggressive, and does, dropping the 2 and drawing the cue cross-side to get on the 3 to perfection!. He should be out from here. He gets a little straight on the 6, but plays power draw 2-rail shape to the 7. He overruns shape on the 8 a bit, leaving a thin cut down the long rail to his least-favorite pocket. It's a bad undercut but it slides in on the new cloth!! The 9 drops.

Shane wins 5-2!

I love Scott Frost's minor comments "can he overcome his demons?" as Shane shoots into the pocket that's been giving him trouble, then the ball wobbles...and drops
 
Great bank shot on the two to start the next rack. He makes a clean run until missing the eight badly in that same corner. Oops my mistake, the eight finds a way to fall in. The Pool Gods shine on Shane today. He wins 5-2

2-rail shape on the 7-ball. It wasn’t a running 3-railed. He drew to double the rail.

Shane got the rolls on this match. His hanging the 1-ball but leaving Filler no real push was an incredible bit of fortune. His 8-ball was the worst “miss” that dropped since I’ve been here. It was just slightly worse than Alcaide’s, but Shane did crawl it in there.
 
Conspiracy theory: MR gently asked Team Europe to keep thing interesting in a couple of first matches, and help them save their face (if the whole thing ended in two games only the visitors at the stands would have been unhappy)
 
Even though that 8 ball had no business dropping for Shane in that last rack, I thought he played great. He had a few shots that looked shakey that went, but I'll take it. USA still alive and at least we'll get to see Wolford play in singles. Hopefully Sky and Styer are inspired by Shane's solid play.

Isn't gambling allowed on the Mosconi Cup? If so, there's zero chance Matchroom would consider this move.
