The Reyes Cup

Ko Ping Chung, Ko Pin Yi, Anton Raga, Aloysisus Yapp and either Carlo Biado or Naoyuki Oi.
😰 Europe has great players, but I just can't see them winning. These guys have this extra level of perfection and a relaxed flow that few Euro's have.

I recall a World cup final between Holland and Phillipines. In the last rack Phillipines got out of line on the 8 leaving a long pot with a thin cut. Not sure who it was but he looked at his teammate with amusement "whaaat bro you leave me this?!" I then knew he was going to make it 100%. Euro players would be EXTREMELY focused and the tension would be palpable. A big difference.

that was dennis doing that to lee van, i remember lee van's sceptical look

Correct I clipped the shot. Amused was not the right word, sceptical. But in no way actually concerned. When I saw the roll I cheered "this is misable!!" when I saw the look it was clear that he would make it.
Dennis was on top of the pool world back then. How far the mighty have fallen!

Wonder if Efren is being compensated for the use of his name?

Hope so...and any claims another Reyes is the namesake would be an unacceptable defense, I say!

word
a benefit of efren still being around is that he can be involved in the event, even beyond playing in it (tho that'd be cool)
one thing that seems to be missing from the mosconi cup, is willie mosconi
obv, but even legacy-wise I think matchroom could speak more about willie, and why their event is named after him
it would be good for them, good for the fans (esp those who know not of willie/the history), good for the game as a whole
celebrate!

What in the world was he "trying" to play! ha ha ha

It’s neat that pool nerds have been pushing for a Reyes cup for years and Matchroom listened.
So it will always be the winner of the Mosconi Vs Asia?
How does it all work exactly?

Would be cool to see North America Vs Europe, and maybe Philippine vs ROA - then correlating the best two teams from either.

I wonder if there is a way to include South Americas and ROW in on the action eventually too.

@Bob Jewett do you think he was playing the white path?

I also thought he might be playing something like the red path, but he hit it way too light for that. I'm not sure that shot was even available from that position.

So glad we get a Reyes cup, but this now brings about something I never thought I'd see....

The USA and the Mosconi Cup have become a warmup tournament for Team Europe and its real competition like 'The Border Battle' between USA and Canada used to be the warmup for the MC.
